Good Workhorse for a Cheap Price
Pros: Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo processor @3ghz with 6M Cache and supports VT as well. Small form factor. 2 PCi x16 slots, 1 PCI, 1 Express, 4 SIMM memory slots, Windows 7 64bit Professional. Integrated Video and Audio, Dual PS2, Dual RS232 Serial and Parallel port, Front and rear USB connections, 1GB Lan connection and DVD Player. It's all there and super quiet too! Simply add a VGA monitor and your on your way!
Cons: Not really but if I had to mention something, it has only 2 GB's of ram and 160gb small disk drive. I would have deducted 1 egg for this but when you consider the price you really can't especially when you consider its completely refurbished.
Overall Review: For the price you can't beat it. The E8400 CPU runs Windows 7 very well though the PC would benefit from additional memory. (Super cheap to do though). This platform is perfect for a student or someone with limited desk space. Not a gaming machine but a workhorse for someone needing a good quality PC with some limited expandability.
Fast on speed, low on support
Pros: Lightning Fast, Low power and runs cool, New firmware vs 0009 available from crucial and easy to install.
Cons: Little or no documentation, Very few tools available from Crucial. No adapter allowing installation into a normal sata slot. Could not get Windows 7 and XP to play nicely on the same disk, Windows 7 64bit would randomly boot to blue screens. Though this appears to be a good unit it looses 2 eqqs for the lack of support and no easy way to mount the drive.
Overall Review: I was very surprised considering Crucial's great reputation on the lack of information provided with this drive. About the only info you can find is on their web site and most of that must be gotten from the forum. I bought this because of the cheap price, I am sorry I didn't go with the Intel unit. They have many tools available for their units that allows maintenance for OS's that don't have TRIM/Garbage deletion incorporated.
DO NOT USE WITH HEATSINK
Pros: Inexpensive, fast
Cons: Cannot be used with a heatsink, Poor customer support
Overall Review: I purchased 2 of these units for use in a QNAP NAS which recommends the use of a heat sink attached to the M.2 SSD boards. Since the heatsink is designed to use a 2 sided thermal blanket that has adhesive on both side I was concerned that the label would create heat transfer issues. I contacted WD tech support and was referred 3 times (escalated each time) because no one could give me an answer. Finally well over a week later I received this statement in my email and I quote: "You can use the heatsink anywhere nearby the SSD but not on the SSD as it may temper the label on the drive which will void the warranty of the drive." As a point of information the label itself is designed that any attempts to remove it would destroy it. So if your thinking of simply pealing it off and putting it back on if you had a warranty issue you can forget it. Also, they did not offer to assist me with possibly swapping out my new Blue's for the new offering, it was more like sorry, you stuck with it. For the life of me I cannot figure out why you could not just scan the label for warranty purposes and peal it off to attach the heatsink. The only reason I could come up with is this is a rebranded part an WD would not be able to determine it was actually their part. WD provided a link to another product coming out soon that would allow the use of a heatsink. Unfortunately when I attempted to use the link they sent me i got "Page not Found" Oh well, looks like WD is not what they use to be. I will end up using the WD units purchased in another application and I wont buy from them again.
Good all around part time basic comptuer drive, but dont use for enterprise, servers or DVR's, it wont last
Pros: General inexpensive drive with reasonable performance Runs relatively cool and quiet
Cons: though these drives are inexpensive don't count on them for 24x7 operation, Seagate rates them for 2400 powered on hours and stopped providing MTBF values. Useless for NAS, Server, DVR or Enterprise operation.
Overall Review: I would only recommend this drive for use in environments where backups are religiously maintained. I have had a number of these drives and never had one last more then about 1 year and that's about the point where the warranty expires.
Good substitution for Apple charger
Pros: Cool running, charges quickly, charges multiple devices, reasonably priced
Cons: Has issues charging certain Android devices such as ASUS tablets
Overall Review: If you have multiple apple device this product should suit you well. Android users should attempt to contact the manufacture and verify it is compatible with the device they intend to use it with. Might save you from having to return it.
Works with all versions of Windows
Pros: Works with all versions of Windows (XP thru Windows 10)
Cons: Instructions leave much to be desired, the support software comes with the board on CD but supports multiple products. Easy to load the wrong driver, looses an egg for this.
Overall Review: Like many of the boards today this board comes from China. It appears to be nicely made flow soldered and good hardware. Also includes a shorty bracket for low profile cases. I would purchase again.
Junk and a total waste of money
Purchased an external antenna for my Netgear AP. When I received it I was disappointed to see it looked nothing like the picture, was malformed and bent and worked worse then the internals AP antenna. The product was total junk. I found out why, Newegg is now using Chinese vendors, I had not noticed this when I ordered. Anyway, Newegg better allow customers to lock out low quality Chinese vendors in a customers profile or I wont be doing much shopping here anymore. Purchased a replacement antenna from a reputable vendor and it works fine.
