Pros:
I bought three of these drives for a RAID5 a little more than five years ago and used them in that config for about three years. The last two years they were split up and used in two smaller systems, with the third being put in a case to be used as an external drive.
They've been flawless the entire time. Not one of them failed and they were used extensively on multiple systems running mostly 24/7.
Sadly it's about time to retire them, they seem to have trouble keeping up lately, and there's faster speeds and interfaces about now, but the fact that it took 5 years to show signs of aging and degrading performance is something to be proud of, especially after what I put them through.
Cons: None, they've been extremely good to me.
Pros:
I've owned this drive for 4 years and 3 months now.
It has never failed me. Only now after all this time is it starting to slow down. I'm writing this review as I'm retiring the drive in favor of a solid state.
Crystal Disk info:
*Health Status : Good
*Temperature: 37degrees C
*Turned on: 2,211 times.
*Powered on for: 20,744 hours.
As you can see it survived over 2.3 years of solid punishment. I'm a big gamer and spend a TON of time on the computer.
I've also moved about 6 times since then and it's survived every car ride inside my computer.
Cons: Started slowing down after 4 years.
Other Thoughts: Overall, fantastic drive. I would buy from them again if I was getting a HDD.
Pros: This drive was easy to install and fast. Vista Business took 50 gigs because it can. Other than that it is a great drive with very fast write times.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: The sky is blue because blue is the most common color in the light spectrum!
Pros:
-so far no problems
-runs cool
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts:
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
SAMSUNG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe
CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3
RAIDMAX AZTEC ATX-619WB
HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000
Pros: Size and speed seem very comparable to any other drive out there and did I mention the PRICE.
Cons: A little noisy but just as noisy as the others.
Pros:
It works and a very valuable item.
Did a lot of research. This babe has 3 yrs warranty.
So, if sth went wrong, I am worry free.
Cons: None, so far!
Other Thoughts: It is also mac friendly. I gave it 3 partitions and one of them is a FAT 32 format. Therefore, I can use that partition on both Windows and Mac. Very nice.
Pros: First off, I'd like to make note that I didn't buy this drive from newegg when I got it almost a year ago. However, I should have! Like I said, I've had this exact drive for right at a year now and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Excellent storage capacity (698GB after NTFS format) and quick read/write times.
Cons: Occasionally, due to my power saving settings, this drive will turn off to save power. That isn't the con, however. The only real issue I have when it does this is when a program, in this case COD4 needs to access it in the middle of gameplay, it takes roughly 3.5 seconds to rev to full speed. Just enough time to get me killed in the game. This cause to game to freeze for those precious seconds. Not a major flaw, just my mild complaint. This drive also has been known to run quite warm. I ran it for a day or so when I got it without cooling and indeed noticed it ran a bit warm. Now though, I have a 120 mm fan mounted inside the case that blows directly across it. The drive runs cool. And don't hassle with the Mail-In rebate from Hitachi... I never got my $20 rebate from them either.
Other Thoughts: I have a feeling that the drives that crashed and burned a few days/weeks after arrival may have suffered from heat exhaustion, so to speak. I'd definitely recommend placing a fan inside your case that will blow cool air across this thing to effectively extend the life of this drive. As for those who had a DOA drive, I can't offer much help since my drive was working upon arrival. Always buy NewEgg!

Pros: Reliable, after 5 years of use.
Cons: Slower transfer rate than the newer drives.
Other Thoughts: Used in a 780i with a QX9650 Extreme CPU
