It may be "new" as in "unused" but it's probably sat on a shelf for years. Last 250 drives I ordered were quite ancient. They failed immediately. I got two more. They were just as old, but at least I haven't heard there have been any problems with them. I forget how many years old they were but I was shocked at the age. Unless you need this size for a specific reason, like I was trying to rebuild a RAID array that had some failing 250s, I wouldn't recommend them. Not without good backups, anyway.
