This product will work with the 2008 edition iMac as a replacement drive. It does not seem to be designed for the hard drive temperature sensor of the 2008 iMac however, and improper installation of the sensor could cause your fans to run on full speed.

At this day and age, I would not recommend this drive as a primary drive for your desktop. I would recommend getting a 120 GB SSD drive for your primary (OS) drive for things like loading Operating Systems, programs etc. You will get much better performance out of SSD drive. This Toshiba drive would work fine as either internal storage for PC tower or as external drive (if you place it in 3.5 inch enclosure).

I don't know, mine hasn't been able to be detected since soon after I firs used it. Wish I could return it but I didn't save the packaging or anything so I've found it an annoying loss and have no idea why it stopped being detected by any motherboard I've hooked it too. I think toshiba had a warranty themselves I'll have to try and use.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Your PC probably has a 3.5 HD in it. Should be an easy swap.

I'm not sure I understand the question but here's what I had to do to get my laptop to recognize this drive under Windows 7. Open a folder, right click Computer and choose Manage (must be logged into a profile with administrative rights). Down on the Storage section, there's a Disk Management section. Click it and the drive should show up there somewhere in the list. I formatted, partitioned, selected a drive letter, all that good stuff from this point. Nothing else I did before that worked, BIOS recognized it, it was installed correctly, but I had to go through that option to get it to work. Hope that helped!

No, it did not come with a SATA cable. The box contained only the hard drive in an ESD bag and that was it.

Yes, it will, even though the drive is capable of transferring data at 6 GB per second, and it seems your motherboard is only capable of SATA II speed, SATA hard drives are backwards compatible.

No, you need a laptop hard drive. (Standard 2.5") This is a 3.5" used in desktops. For best performance, you can upgrade to a SSD which has less capacity for the price, but is much, much faster than a traditional mechanical hard drive such as this Toshiba drive.
