Like a 4-2-2! 1/12/2019 5:52:56 PM

Pros: This processor is a champ! I have put this thing through the wringer over the years. For 5 years and counting now, with 0 issues. I upgraded the heatsink shortly after purchasing it and it runs full bore without breaking 65c @ 4.2-.3. Still plays many games on Ultra and max settings. Some AAA high end titles med to med-high.

Cons: None
Runs quite hot with stock coolers. (duh it's amd)

Overall Review: Example: Plays Ryse: Son of Rome, on Max settings, ESO medium setting and BF1on medium.
Great processor for a good price.

The Great Legend 12/18/2017 2:16:14 PM

Pros: - One of the first 8 core processors out in the wild.
- Stable at 4.2ghz OC'd

Cons: - Power hungry, especially if paired with ATI GPU.
- HOT, liquid cooling is a must even at stock speeds.

Overall Review: - I built this into a machine that lasted me from August 2012 to Dec 2017. It's a good processor, but in 2017 it just can't cut it anymore.

Solid chip 5/28/2017 7:30:08 AM

Pros: Good performance

Cons: runs super hot. be sure you've got a good sink and fan.

Overall Review: had some issues with operating temperature a few times during heavy load. really just needed to invest in a better heatsink. tried to be greedy and it ended up burning out on me. i knew it was running too hot but i was a cheap-o. Got several years out of it regardless, but could've gotten several more. don't skimp on cooling.

Still going strong 3/18/2017 6:17:29 PM

Pros: Built my machine 5 years ago. Primary use is to run virtual machines (VMware Workstation) in my lab environment. I run as many as 5 virtual Windows Server machines at a time; this processor is able to handle that load. Workloads include SQL, ConfigMgr, WSUS, and Operations

Cons: None. The processor does everything I need it to do efficiently and at a great price point.

Good Proc for the Price 11/23/2016 8:43:54 PM

Pros: -Great workhorse
-8 cores
-Fantastic for virtualization

Cons: -Bulldozer architecture didn't quite deliver in many people's eyes
-Runs really hot

Overall Review: AMD processors have always run a bit hot in my experience, and this chip is no exception. Be sure to have a good cooler ready to go and lots of air flow. That said, this thing handles the loads and high temperatures like a dream. I don't like seeing temps above 32C and this thing has spiked all the way up to 70C and it's still nice and happy even after almost 5 years of abuse.

I'm about to build a new system and will not be using another one of these processors, but that's only because I'm going to be building with the new Zen architecture AMD is releasing in 2017. If you don't want to wait for Zen, but don't want to throw money at Intel, these are definitely worth a look. I run numerous virtual machines on my system, some even with CPU intensive loads (e.g. high IOPS database servers) and this thing blows through it without an issue even while I'm gaming and streaming movies. I know people like to knock Bulldozer, but I've been very happy with this CPU overall.

This things been great 8/27/2016 12:03:12 PM

Pros: I cant complain. I replaced the stock fan initially with a corsair H100, but have since changed Noctua NH-U12S 120x120x25 ( NF-F12 PWM) SSO2-Bearing CPU Cooler . It hovers around 16-19c. Cant even hear the thing.
Processors are cool to look at.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: For the price, this was a good buy. Im still able to upgrade to a better am3 processor later.

Amazing processor! 3/7/2016 12:24:21 AM

Pros: This thing is wicked fast. Coupled with the rest of my hardware, I've had no problems what so ever. Easy to overclock (But I don't)

Cons: It runs pretty hot... I'm pretty sure its my mosfets that are the actual culprit on my HWmonitor, but the other temp (which I believe to be my processor) still shows around 70C under load (With the other sensor going up passed 90C!)

Overall Review: My setup is Air cooled, but I have one of the best Air coolers that were on the market when I bought it. A ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B. All the benchmark tests showed this to be pretty much the best option for me unless I went to water cooled (But this keeps up with H60's and in some cases H70's!) Still, the CPU stays hot as ever when under stress.

Can't complain to much though as its been working just fine at these temps, at 24/7 operation for the last 4 years. But I do fear that the temps might kill it one day.
