Does this have integrated graphics?

Accepted Answer

No, the only Ryzen processors with integrated graphics are the ones that end in "G", such as the R3 3200G.  For all other Ryzen processors, such as the R9 3900X that is being asked about, you have to have a discrete GPU.

Is the 3900x worth the upgade? cuz i have the 2700x with the gtx 1070

Depends on the purpose of your rig, if you only do gaming then no, the gaming performance increase is decent but not 500 bucks decent. I bought mine because I was coming from an Ivy bridge i7 3770. And it's useful for video production tasks which I do on the side. So if you're not doing tasks that could utilize that many cores I would say your build is still really good for gaming, at least for one or two more generations. Hope that helps

If I only game should I consider other options?

Let's assume you have a 1080 or better GPU.  If you really just game, and that's all you ever plan to do, and you're starting from scratch, get a 9700K.  But if you're already on AM4, get a Ryzen 5 3600 or even a 2600 (at a nice discount).  Ryzen 8- and 12-core CPUs shine at productivity tasks and a handful of games that leverage all the cores.

Is thermal paste included?

There is thermal paste already applied on the Processor, but it runs hot. Aftermarket thermal paste is what most people use on performance processors. I tend to use thermal grizzly kryonaut, and have had no problems with it. Just apply it evenly across the whole processor with the spatula they provide

How decent is the cooler it comes with?

It is a pretty hot chip at load and if you will be doing prime95 or any other software to push the limits of this card, the wraith will not cut it. There just isn't enough surface area on the find for being at load. Now if all you're doing is gaming, the cooler will work just fine provider you don't live in the middle of the Sahara.

One thing I HIGHLY recommend: get rid of the stock paste. It isn't as good as bought paste. Go with like a mx-5 or something better. This goes for any cooler or aio you buy with their own stock paste, get rid of it.

My recommendation for this chip is a 240 to 360 radiator. Why? Again, this chip gets warm and it benefits from being at a lower temp a thousand times more than Intel's chips. I use it for rendering and gaming and even on gaming so getting a better boost clock is important to me. If you don't care about how fast the chip can potentially be, the stock cooler is perfectly fine.

I've read that people have experienced their faces melting off after witnessing the performance of this CPU, what precautions, if any, should I take to avoid this?

well most of those stories are largely apocryphal, or at least a bit exaggerated, however in a few instances it has happened, and there are a few things you can do to prevent your face from melting.  Firstly, merely booting the machine won't cause your face to melt, nor will playing video games, or browsing the web. any sort of common low threaded application won't do it. It is only when you do rendering, or encoding, run any highly threaded software, or running many instances of not so highly threaded software, will you begin to feel a tingling. there is nothing you can do about that, however you can prevent a full face melt by doing the following, 1 NEVER look at the taskmanager, It will put into perspective the Full extent of performance, and will outright cause your face to explode, 2 Try not to think about how inexpensive this CPU is while it is doing things 7 times faster than your old computer. 3 wear super chromatic peril sensitive sunglasses, this will help acclimate your body to witnessing such extreme performance,

This is random, but does anyone who owns this CPU happen to play retail WoW? Im debating which CPU to get between the i9900k or 3900x..

Either one would be more than enough to handle retail WoW. If you're looking a shear gaming performance system then the i9900k still pulls ahead; however, the 3900x will do you better if plan to do other things on your system like record videos and/or stream as the multi-core performance far outshines the i9900k. If you simply want to play retail WoW it may be wiser to consider a lower end CPU because, as I said before, both of these are far more than enough to handle that load.

Best DDR4 memory to pair with a R9 3900x?

As far as I remember, AMD recommends ddr4 3600mhz modules. I opted for GSkill Trident Z RGB sticks at 3200mhz. Working out great so far. Also, there seems to be a Ryzen specific variant now called the Trident Z RGB Neo that you might want to look into.

It's not a great overclocker and you're not going to get much benefit from manual overclocking.  Just run precision boost overdrive and let it do it's thing.
