Very nice 8/12/2020 1:30:50 AM

Pros: 16 cores, two single cores will reach 4.5 GHz

Cons: Can’t get my G Skill Neo on B550 Taichi infinity fabric set at 1800 to post with XMP 3600 on. I have to keep it at auto which results high latency (which CPU-z will read the frequency at 800s MHz) or lower it to 3200 to get it to post. I hope it’s a BIOS update needed and I don’t have to RMA the chip.

Overall Review: I still like it. B550 board and Corsair H100i keeps the temps low and no where near any danger zone.

More than I could expect... 8/3/2020 12:42:25 AM

Pros: Easy install, Cool box.
Fastest CPU I've bought to date.
Would do it again.
Probably going to have to once my wife sees it.

Cons: I mean, other than missing a buy one get one free deal..
I'm pretty satisfied.

Overall Review: If you can buy her a ring, you can buy a CPU. Just saying.

Good, but unstable 7/29/2020 6:46:29 AM

Pros: - Boosts itself up to 4.675 GHz on one core, 4.05 GHz across all cores out of the box.
- Can be adjusted to run 10 C cooler than stock without losing MT performance.

Cons: - PC reboots randomly every so often. Replaced all components except CPU and motherboard (Aorus X570 Elite).
- Extreme pickiness with RAM. XMP may not work out of the box on this CPU as it's an Intel standard. To get this CPU to be stable, you will need to buy AMD-approved RAM, or set timings manually in BIOS after using Thaiphoon Burner + AMD RAM Calculator to figure out what they should be.
- Stock voltage is too high, and as a result runs a bit hot (went as high as 89 C).
- AMD's boost (which is enabled by default) is weird. CPU temp kept spiking by 10 degrees Celsius every couple of seconds while idling. Turning off boost fixed the problem. I've never ran into this issue with Intel chips.

Overall Review: After 8 months of using this CPU, I went back to Intel due to the above-mentioned stability issues. 10700k is 5% faster in games and is half the price. I'd get a 10900k, but they seem to be out of stock everywhere. Ryzen CPU is past the return period, so I'm stuck with it collecting dust.

AMD has never let me down and it looks like it will really speed things up! 7/21/2020 4:39:21 PM

Pros: Fast, fast, fast. Oh, did I mention FAST!
Reliable and durable.
Trustworthy manufacturer.

Cons: I would say price, but then again it really isn't that expensive considering what you get.

Overall Review: I have been a fan of AMD ever since I placed a 486 DX4-100 in a computer back in the early 90's. While there have been times that Intel does edge out in front, when all is considered, AMD is consistently the top processor out there. These are rugged and reliable and I am happy that they came out with the Ryzen series, which is proving to be the best.

The CPU is fine. The packaging is ridiculously oversized. 7/16/2020 6:50:27 AM

Overall Review: It's a CPU. It crunches numbers mighty fine. You already know if you need to buy a CPU. If you are trying to figure out whether you should buy *this* CPU, I'm sorry, I am not here to help you with that today.

I am here to complain about the packaging.

The CPU itself is a flat metal square, four centimeters on a side, less than five mm tall. The box it comes in is so large that two 3.5" hard disks plus a bunch of bubble wrap fit inside easily (I know this because I reused the box to mail a friend some used hard disks). More than 90% of the interior volume of the box was filled with a solid block of foam rubber. This wasn't for shock absorption, because the CPU was pressed up against a hole in the top of the box. (I suppose this is so it's obvious whether someone has come along with a boxcutter, removed the CPU, pocketed it, and walked out of the store.)

There is no reason I can think of why this product should not be packaged the same way RAM sticks are packaged: in an antistatic bag not much bigger than the CPU itself, with a sticker telling you where to look on AMD's website for the warranty information, shoved in a padded envelope for shipping. It's already expensive enough, I shouldn't have to pay inflated shipping costs because the box is bigger than it needs to be, nor for ~1000 cm^3 of unnecessary foam and extra-heavy cardboard.
