Pros: These is the first time that used a AMD CPU, in the pass I alway use Intel, but now with the new "AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core 3.7", I think that Intel have to be careful because this monster beat it for far. Great performed without over clocking.
Cons: None....price yeah.
Overall Review: Totally recommended for enthusiast PC gamers and Graphic Designers.
Pros: Before getting into that high-end Xeon pricing, and depending on what you are looking for this CPU can do photo, video, and sound editing and not even break a sweat! It’s handled everything I can give it plus run Red Dead Redemption in Ultra Mode, now that’s a real test :)
Cons: Little expensive, but for what you get I wouldn’t even say that.
Overall Review: Great all around processor, that is still affordable for the home PC’ers.
Pros:
Has all the features I wanted and needed. Outruns the previous generation 32 core processor. PCIE gen4 support. Excellent motherboard selection availability. Great memory support for optimum config.
Just a well balanced system build for the power user, into more than just games. I wanted the features not provided with the 16 core 3950. Quad RAM and expanded PCie lanes. If your not needing cores galore, then this is where you need to be. To be sure it does have a substantial number of cores, but that isn't all. For me I/O is the most compelling use case. A side benefit is a 10 second power on to desktop result, as an example in win 10.
Cons:
As of this date, still waiting for a graphics card to rise to the level of the system.
One thing to remember that when you eliminate or mitigate one bottleneck, another will inevitably show up.
Overall Review: A well designed build based on this processor is a dream, until technology comes out with the next better thing.
Pros:
For tasks which benefit from the cores being on a single socket this gives you the best performance you could ask for due to the clock speed. Even the server line can't match it if the workload suffers from communication penalties.
For solving large linear systems this thing is a dream. 256 GB of RAM with 64 cores leads to 64 Cores with 4 GB of RAM for each... a nice sweet spot for MP work loads.
PCI Express 4 is also superb for the SSD performance.
Cons:
Limit of 256 GB of Ram?
Current motherboards seem to require a flash before the 3990x is supported - be ready with a usb thumb drive.
Overall Review: If you value high core counts on a single socket with high clock per core, then this is a great fit. Wish I could put two on a board...

Overall Review: Great product, only problem is it was poorly released... You can pair any motherboard, and from what I can tell, they all require a bios update before you can get this thing running. I'm not a huge fan of the severely reduced memory bandwidth either, but I understand why they did that. The other thing that ticks me off, is that most of the boards released for this thing, are all E-ATX or XL. There's like 4-6 options that are ATX sized. Hope they will reconsider how they release products in the future...

Overall Review: Obtained one through a company source. We do molecular modelling/conformational dynamics for biological systems and write a lot of code in-house. I have been playing with this for a few days now and for properly coded applications it really is very fast. With that said, you have to have more money than brains to buy one of these for any other purpose. Of course within weeks there will be scores of gamers with rich daddies (or perhaps sugar daddies) who will have this CPU for bragging rights.
Pros: I upgraded to this from a 10 year old processor so everything seems insanely fast. Includes a 13.3ft/lb torque wrench!
Cons:
The packaging is completely ridiculous and contains tons of plastic for no good reason.
Give me a nice paper box that will biodegrade please!
Overall Review: I really can't give a good review because the last processor I had was from 2010...but this one is a lot better.
