Pros: -Fast PCIE4.0 and 5.0 connections for NVMe drives -PCIE5.0 for GPU -Can run RAM at 5200MHz stable without issue via manual overclock. Can potentially run faster but haven't tried -Runs Intel's fast 12gen CPUs and is anticipated to be compatible with Intel's Raptor Lake and Meteor Lake!
Cons: -Will not currently run XMP if using 4 sticks of DDR5
Overall Review: -Top of the line mobo materials as you can expect from an Asus ROG motherboard -About as near term future proof as an Intel board can be since it is anticipated to be able to run Intel's future Raptor Lake and Meteor Lake -Disappointing that XMP will not work with 4 expensive DDR5 sticks of RAM. I have 4x G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 6000MHz but XMP will not run with this many sticks of RAM on this board. I was able to manually OC to 5200MHz and probably could go faster but 2000MHz faster than my last PC is satisfying at the moment. -I assume this will get fixed in the future and easier CPU and Memory clocking will be rolled out via future BIOS updates from ASUS.
Pros: I was worried I might get one of the bad ones. But it's running great.
Overall Review: Works
Overall Review: Trying to figure out why I specifically asked if these recall boards were in your inventory so I could avoid the hassle of dealing with it. You all said NO. Apparently however instead of sending these back to Asus yourselves youve decided to pass that burden onto me.
Pros: Great board, if it was manufactured properly
Cons: Recalls on this board due to the manufacturer installing a capacitor backwards, causing fried RAM modules and fires.
Overall Review: Dont buy this until they get all the faulty boards out of the market.
Pros: It's pretty
Cons: As is well documented these have a manufacturing defect. Asus response is "Please make a replacement of different model like APEX because there is an ongoing issue regarding the reversed capacitor on this ROG MAXIMUS Z690 Hero right now." If you want to keep the same board you can send it in for repair, which will take 4+ weeks if they even bother - "You may send the unit to the facility, and since there are no stocks for replacement, facility will most likely offer you a buyback. To set your expectation, it might take more than 4 weeks for that process."
Overall Review: After 30+ years of buying Asus it's time to pick a new go-to brand
Pros: - Love the look - auto overclocks CPU - compatibility with LL o11 XL case
Overall Review: I'm usually MSI loyal when it comes to motherboards, but I wasn't digging the Carbon, or Edge for a z690 upgrade. I then saw the Hero and immediately had to have it and I'm glad I decided to pay a little more to get the build I desired. If you're on the fence, just pull the trigger already.
Overall Review: Received a faulty unit. ASUS recommended I cease the use of it. As it is, the motherboard can catch fire. Incredible. Now need to disassemble everything and go through Newegg's refund process. ASUS hasn't done anything to rectify this mistake for their customer. You'd expect the company to send you a new device ASAP, given that they sold you something that can burn down your building. I am now without a motherboard. What a waste of time and effort from my side.
Overall Review: But the one I got is defective, luckily I checked it before it burns.
