The Best! 11/13/2019 8:15:19 AM

Pros: It switches the perspective of gaming to that of the creator. No longer do I feel cheated by my PC and can enjoy every game like it was meant to be.

Cons: There are a lot of claims that the temperature would be higher but it seems less relevent to me because I wear gaming headphones. so I just keep my fans at high speed and the temperature is lower than previous processors.

Overall Review: Having owned an AMD 8 core processor I know the power behind it even at the lower speeds expected from their line of gaming processors. The I9-9900kf takes that to a whole new level with Intel's world famous reputation for unsurpassed speed and efficiency.

Solid CPU 11/10/2019 11:37:52 PM

Pros: Great CPU
A bit pricey but you get what you pay for
Shipped in 2 days
Worked with Asus Prime z390-A without any compatibility problems

Cons: Not a huge problem but the package is a bit too simple.
I miss having a stock cooler in case you had to wait for a heatsink. Again not a problem if you have a
compatible heatsink.

Overall Review: Great product. Would recommend.

9900kf on apex xi 11/9/2019 10:07:56 AM

Pros: can hold 5.2ghz on 1,35v llc7, watercooled (avx -2 )

Cons: can't hold AVX past 5.0 ghz because became totally uncoolable

Overall Review: I like overclocking and deep diving in any tech stuff. So it take time to fine tune but worth it for me. Gaming system for years to came. I9-9900 is overkill for now, but it is best that you can buy for gaming system at this time. AMD Ryzen 2gn is good too, but not the best in this scenario. x570 is expensive and buggy for now. IMC on Ryzen still have a lot of latency. So I make easy choose between them.

Fantastic. End of story. 10/30/2019 12:04:33 PM

Pros: -Full 8-core CPU
-Mine Overclocked to 5.2ghz on all cores on air cooling
-Ridiculously powerful single-core performance
-Frankly, the lack of hyper-threading doesn't bother me

Cons: -Well, I said that, but, Hyper-threading would have been a nice feature
-L3 Cache is a bit smaller than expected
-Requires at least a 130w-rated cooler for optimal performance
-This chip shows very sporadic availability as of late

Overall Review: So, looking at the purely Intel side of the market for now, I think that this is the best bang-for-the buck that Intel is offering.

The 8700k is a great chip, for sure, but I always prefer real, physical cores to hyper-threads. But, that is just me, perhaps your particular workload will favor the 8700k. In reality, hyper-threading is a very good feature to have, but, it is only one of several very good features to have on a CPU, and I prefer the cores to the threads any day.

Looking at the entire market, including AMD, Ryzen 3rd gen has many compelling values through the price ranges. But, even in many productivity tasks, the 9700KF can keep up in many of them well, especially considering the overclocking headroom and clock-advantage that this chip can provide. Don't get me wrong, Ryzen 3rd gen is definitely worth a look, I am just attesting that this chip proves that AMD has not conquered the price-to-performance market yet.

When paired with a high-end GPU, this chip provides excellent performance in gaming. That being said, for gaming and simultaneous streaming and recording, the hyper-threads are missed. If you plan to do that with this chip, then, you will likely need additional equipment.

When paired with, say, an RTX 2070 super, 2080, or a 5700XT, I don't recommend even bothering to overclock this CPU, as you will only see rather minimal gains. Predictions are dangerous things, but, I predict that even when paired with high-end GPUs, this chip will perform well for at least six years to come.

My chip overclocked to 5.2ghz on all cores. Though, it should be noted that was on a Noctua air cooler. So, please, please make certain your cooling situation is in order before overclocking this chip. Even at the out-of-the-box settings, I recommend at least a 130w-rated cooler for optimal performance. If you want to overclock, then, well, I suggest either a high-end air cooler or a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler.

See, while Intel's Ringbus architecture used here is very low-latency, it does have a weakness: adding more cores and higher clocks increases power consumption and heat generation geometrically. And that is a real problem on these 8-core chips. This is as opposed to AMD's infinity fabric, in which power consumption and heat generation increase linearly with core counts and clock speeds. Add to this that the 9700K/F is on Intel's 14nm process, and you can see how this is a problem with heat generation.

That though, is really this chip's only weakness in my opinion. All things considered, this is an excellent, high-end CPU, at a very reasonable price. . . when it is available, that is.

This Thing is a Beast 10/12/2019 1:34:28 PM

Pros: Very fast processor.
No problems out of box.
Works as advertised.

Cons: Only 8 core 8 thread. Not really a big deal.

Overall Review: Love this processor. Very fast, I really dont see much need for the average person to have more cores/threads. This runs very fast and I doubt I will need much more than this. Would recommend.

Oh baby, this thing is amazzzing 10/5/2019 9:23:57 AM

Pros: I dont plan on overclocking this... it really does not require it. I had an I5-8400 with the RTX 2060 16gb ddr 3200, turned on gameboost and XMP and im flying in games. Apex legends was 100-110 fps with dips to 80-90 now its 144 fps with dips to 120, never knew a processor could boost your frames per second this much its wonderful. Stays cool with a hyper 212 evo from previous build, no complaints here on the KF vers. as long as you have a dedicated GPU you are set.

Overall Review: I am happy this did not come in one of those giant hexi boxes. Just a normal little box. <3 newegg :)

Team Blue is absolute best! 10/3/2019 7:31:58 AM

Pros: -Runs cooler (when compared to my i7-7700K), probably because of no integrated graphics
-Really not that much of a difference from my previous build performance-wise
-My favorite game runs buttery smooth
-Bought at a great discount price
-More PCI-e, nevertheless it disables the 2 SATA ports I need if I use a 2nd M.2 drive. Not a pro but something to know and consider.

Specs, whole new system:
-ASUS MAXIMUS XI Z390
-Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3200MHz
-The Star of the Show
-ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 16600 Ti OC
-Creative Sound Blaster Z
-Corsair MP510 960GB M.2 NVMe
-Corsair RM1000i
-Phanteks Evolv X Grey Case
-$$$$$ Corsair Hydro X Cooling

Cons: None

Overall Review: First and foremost, settings, the Z97 and Z170 chipset (Nevermind the Z270, basically a Z170 with two extra PCIe lanes and same BIOS) are very similar in settings and BIOS, but this Z390 and BIOS is a whole new thing, to me, it seems like basically, the pre-settings are set in a manner that you won't go over a certain temperature range unless you fiddle with the BIOS and change them yourself. Otherwise, the system will reboot when it hits a certain pre-set temperature. In my case, it was 95C which I didn't understand why? Maybe because this time around it's 8 cores and a pretty expensive chip to replace Intel doesn't want you to break it prematurely, thus influencing the board manufacturers (ASUS in my case) to now allow the CPU to pass 100c. My Z170 would throttle, this Z390 doesn't, it just reboots. Now it won't and temps are great......but!!!!

So, after concluding that I couldn't use an HSF, like the Dark Rock Pro 4 in my case, mainly because I can't use the two sets of Corsair Platinum RGB, I opted to consider an AIO but those are not 100% reliable IMO, though I had a 280 RAD in my 7700K and the DRP4 is doing a better job at cooling it than the RAD AIO.

I paired my CPU with the best cooling solution possible I could find, the Corsair Hydro X series, which not only does an exceptional job at cooling my CPU but also the aesthetics were my main goal, and performance also and ultimately seeing the 4 Corsair Platinum modules. The pump is relatively quiet, even at full speed and the fans are so quiet as well (Fractal Static pressure non RGB).
It is worth the price paid? It all depends on your budget and the length of time you're planning on keeping the system and how serious you're about overclocking or getting the best possible cooling solution.

This processor is a great performer, just a matter of getting good cooling and BIOS settings you're good to get the 5.0GHz the CPU is meant to run at, otherwise, you'll see only 4.6GHz but it'll keep going.
For air cooling, I believe and from my experience the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 is the best, you'll pay the same price for the other option but less appealing IMO. And skimping on the cooler? Big mistake. This is an Intel with 8 cores, not a well-known brand for running cool with less than stellar heat-sink/fans.
