3 out of 5 eggs Quality not as good as it used to be, No Windows XP Drivers 02/23/2016

This review is from: Dell U3014 Black 30" 6ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight Height Adjustable IPS LCD Monitor 350 cd/m2 DCR 2,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Pros: Large display, IPS with LED backlight, professional color, USB 3.0 port. 16:10 aspect rare considering everyone is going to 16:9 a TV format. .25 Pitch IPS screen. Excellent color after minor adjustments.

Cons: No Windows XP drivers, sometimes blanks and will not restore when used with KVM switch requiring power cycle to get the screen back. Minor, but something to consider if you switch between computers (like me)

Other Thoughts: I have always been a loyal Dell customer, some of their products have been bulletproof but it seems the quality has dropped. One of my major hangups with Dell is backwards software support. Many of my customers still use (and plan on extended used of) XP even though Microsoft has stopped its support. There are NO Drivers for XP thus preventing someone from getting the full resolution under XP. My other gripe This is where HP kicks, but their ZR30W has XP drivers. Last, stuck pixels, mine developed a number of them within the first 30 days, that in combination with the lack of XP drivers and the screen blanking issues caused me to send mine back.

3 out of 5 eggs Replacement Low Performance SSHD Drive for laptops 02/18/2016

This review is from: Seagate ST500LM000 500GB 5400 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Laptop Thin SSHD Bare Drive

Pros: Low Cost, Sometimes faster then a standard hd*

Cons: Miisleading performance figures. Very small SSD /memory cache. slow rotational speed compared to other performance hard drives.
5.9 rating in Windows 7, same as a standard hard drive. I have XP and Windows 7 on my laptop, I have also noticed this drive seems to check out for a few seconds from time to time. This problem goes away if I put my original HD back in. Don't know if its a cache issue in the drive or something else. SMART logs indicate nothing.

Other Thoughts: I originally purchased this drive as an upgrade for a laptop equipped with a 256gb SSD and a 1tb HD. I thought it would enhance the performance of the platform. This was not the case, in fact it actually slowed down the laptop. *For small file transfers and booting it works ok but anything large forget it. Anyway if you are in the same boat consider this, SSD without a doubt will blow this thing away, second a raptor (but that usually wont fit a laptop) third a 7200rpm drive then this drive. It might work well as a second drive for an Xbox One.
If could do it again I would not but this drive but would have instead saved up the extra coin for a REAL SSD,

ORICO 40W 5-Port USB Charger with OTG Access to Android or Windows Smartphones, Tablets, 2x5V 2.4A Charging Ports with Quick Charge Technology and 3x5V 1A Regular Ports - Black (DCT-5U)
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Cool running, charges quickly, charges multiple devices, reasonably priced

Cons: Has issues charging certain Android devices such as ASUS tablets

Other Thoughts: If you have multiple apple device this product should suit you well. Android users should attempt to contact the manufacture and verify it is compatible with the device they intend to use it with. Might save you from having to return it.
