Ease of setup (read the instructions unlike I did!!)
Excellent storage device. I back up nightly all the hard drives in three computers to this device. The initial backup for each computer is slow but this is normal considering that you are backing up the entire drive across the network. After the initial backup, it becomes a fast process. Highly recommend this product as both a backup device and source of additional storage. Note there is two 6T drives so the data is on both drives so if one drive does fail you do not lose your back because you have it on the other 6T drive.
Easy to unbox, populate with NVME M.2 SSD cards, configure, add an external HD for scheduled backups and snapshots.
As a long time and happy user of the Raidon External Raid storage units I decided to try the QNAP units when I needed more storage capacity. The QNAP DAS units are solidly built and are professionally finished. They look like high quality equipment. Installation of the hard disk drives requires minimal effort. I configured the unit for Raid 1 using the switches on the rear panel. Set up took a while for my pair of Seagate Ironwolf Raid Hard Disk Drives as was to be expected. So far the unit has been running flawlessly for a week. Being a Direct Attached Storage device, consolidation of my files spread across many HDDs, Thumb-drives and smaller external raid units will be easy. Looking forward to consolidating all my files, on one storage device, and ending the "Digital Clutter". Once the consolidation is completed the QNAP will be connected to a NAS so my files can be accessed from any devise regardless of where I'm at.
fast delivery from newegg .easy to install
- This is a very small and quiet NAS. - Plenty of power to handle our needs - There are some very good tutorials on YouTube that I used to walk me through setting up the NAS.
I have three older hard drives just sitting around, I put them in and have been testing them to see how this unit would react, so far not one hiccup. I'm going to add four Seagate IronWolf Pro ST10000NE0004 10TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drives later this week. If all goes well, later I'll add my second TR-004 to my TS-253Be. (according from Qnap Two TR-004 is the max you can add to compatible Qnap Nas systems)
Easy to install.
Happy to have 6 gb total all working ; didnt want to take a risk to go above 6 gb that isnt on the compatibility list
UPDATE: found the problem - Restrict NTLM: Incoming NTLM traffic Restrict NTLM: Outgoing NTLM traffic to remote servers these will break ability to get to the device cant access over network from domain joined machines. dead clean win10 connects fine. still trying to figure out what is stopping machines from connecting. will update if/when i figure it out.
Decent price for the hardware, sleek design, upgradable RAM, software updates are frequent, drive bays are solid, can control fan speed for the CPU
