Ran 4 of these in a storage array for a few years. They replaced a similar array built on smaller SATA drives. Needless to say, they're muuuuch faster than the SATA drives.

Great drives for the price when on sale. Also they are cmr drives which will be faster when recovering a drive in a raid configuration. I read some reviews and these drives are not that loud in my opinion. As far as the warranty is concerned if you buy them from newegg. Seagate will cover the warranty even if the warranty checker says a year is already gone. If you buy them from some of those third party seller. Yeah you will get them cheaper but then you have to deal with the seller for warranty coverage.

For Synology NAS users, the Synology brand drives means easier adoption, less headaches and fewer notifications. The extra small pennies/gb price per GB over other enterprise drives with worth it. No need to worry about compatibility with many features of DSM 7.1

Fast and quiet. Lots of space. Seagate. Ive been using Seagate drives for years, I have used WD in the past but 9 out of the 10 drives failed on me. Not a single Seagate has failed on my yet, I still have one from my first computer I got in 1994 thats still working.

10TB is an absolutely huge amount of capacity. If you're looking to store Blu-Ray rips, this can store 200 full 50GB discs on one drive. More than fast enough over a gigabit network connection. In my 25+ years of computer using & building, I have always used and depended on the Seagate brand and have trusted it with no worries. These HDDs have lasted for years of continued use for my home PC rigs and rigs that I have built for others. Their HDDs are always easy to install (under Windows) and I have never had a drive develop any bad sectors after installing. Their transfer speeds are always as described and data is always complete, even years after storage.

These WD HDD's are for my security system servers and they usually last five to eight years. I prefer to buy from Newegg because I still remember they were the first company to really step up the game, and send my stuff the very next day as promised. Way before am zon, who is just out to put the other guy out of business. Newegg never has sent me junk parts, and has always been my PC parts shipper choice.

It's an HDD so there aren't many but I will say this, For years WD was the best and then it started to go downhill the products turned to garbage now it seems they're coming back great product!

The Seagate Skyhawk 6TB Is meant for DVR Applications, Where the drive will be writing data constantly. It seems to be a well made drive, It has some weight to it, It weighs in at 24.9oz, It has a 256MB Cache, Which is important for those situations where you need to copy data off of your DVR at the same time it has to continue recording. I first installed this Drive in my desktop pc so i could perform benchmarks on it. And it performed well. Maximum HD Tune Read speed of 208MB/s & Average 168MB/s Maximum HD Tune Write speed of 207MB/s & Average 152MB/s Random Read Access Time 18.6ms & Random Write Access Time 6.65ms
