Doesn't overheat when used in a drive caddy (no airflow); max temp incurred was 42°C. I have another vendor's 7200 RPM drive which has hit their max temp spec of 55°C.

Quality is what I expect from Seagate. Price was what I expect from Newegg. Delivery was what I expect from Newegg (good).

It took 22 hours to transfer all my data from my full 8TB drive. This drive is pretty quiet and very fast. I picked it because it has 18 heads, wonderful for multiple simultaneous read/write operations.

Plug and Play..simple Windows Setup, works as advertised.

Used for 3.5 years for both general storage (photos) and games. Still works as well as the say I got it.

Quieter than the harddrives they replaced

Works off of USB with hirens. Macrium reflect saw it and took the image flawlessly. Super fast copy for 1TB.

Got this computer up and running with this hard drive - got it for another computer and than the hard drive crashed on this one ( IT WAS A mediamax ) just quit !!

In my 25+ years of computer using & building, I have always used and depended on the Seagate brand and have trusted it with no worries. These HDDs have lasted for years of continued use for my home PC rigs and rigs that I have built for others. Their HDDs are always easy to install (under Windows) and I have never had a drive develop any bad sectors after installing. Their transfer speeds are always as described and data is always complete, even years after storage.

Out of the box in perfect order. No problems on install, have had ruining in raid 0 for 7 days straight on a 12tb copy, 0 errors so far.

Well, I have to say I am impressed with this hard drive. While I do not have a security setup this drive is running in my main home network computer as a shared storage. Lots of reading and writing to it for storage of music, pictures, movies, and system backups. I have to say it handles all of it with ease. Its very fast even for only being a 5400 rpm hard drive. This drive is faster in reads and writes than my systems 640gb western digital blue 7200 rpm hard drive. With 1 terabyte of storage space it has plenty of room for all my networks needs. On my system it runs at Sata 3gbs speeds I can just imagine how much faster it would be if I had Sata 6gbs ports for it to be connected to. Very quiet drive so far with my experience with it, unlike some drives I have had that you could actually hear operating, when reading or writing to them. Now as I have said I use it for my home networks shared storage device, I can attest to the fact it handles everything, and as such if you set it up for a security systems drive it would handle all your data needs for recording video 24/7. Nice 3.5 inch drive whatever your needs may be.
