WD makes dependable NAS drives and so far these work as expected. Newegg sent the correct product the first time, so a good experience. That is not always the case.
Drive was plug and play ready for partitioning and format. Good capacity for the price.
+ drives are running stably in my software RAID5 + endure reboots and power cycles well
Fast and Smooth! Seller was fast and it arrived earlier than I could hope. A++ Would buy from again and again.
Synology drives are guaranteed compatible and recommended for Synology enclosures.
Fast & quiet; 5-yr warranty; easy installation; reliable thus far.
Shipping was much faster than expected
big space for lots of video and pictures
good transfer rate
Inexpensive and optimized for the targeted application, surveillance DVR/NVRs (CCTV camera recorders). I have yet to encounter a faulty drive of probably 50 or so purchased so far, not to mention another 50 or so Purple drives that were factory installed in the Hikvision recorders we sell. Western Digital's warranty support is good, though I have yet to send them a Purple (last two drives I had replaced were RE enterprise SATA)
Dependability, assurance of quality delivery condition.
- Largish storage capacity - Good read and writes speeds for an HDD - Not overly loud
I currently install Western Digital Re drives exclusively in all my client builds. I have never had a problem with one.
-Fast transfer speeds of <200MB/sec -Quiet, cant be heard outside case, no seek noises at all -Has 2000+ hours on it already and no issues or problems so far
This is the product I recommended
-Build quality -Price per TB of storage
Great value size vs price, good warranty, easy to setup, fairly quiet.
The best feature of this drive is how quiet it is. In my personal testing the performance is equal to or better than the x20 and it is a little bit less expensive. Going forward this will be my goto 20 tb hard drive. Hopefully its reliable as the x20 going forward.
Not sure this is the same drive, but it was a WD 500 GB SATA 6.0/s 3.5 I bought before Christmas and it was bad, but WD did a good quick replacement on it. I am up and running good now.
This is a high performance, server-grade mechanism that combines a reasonable price with capacity, speed and reliability. We installed this drive into a server running SUSE Linux and noted better than average throughput in a mix of small file reads and the large reads that occur when a program is loaded and executed. The large cache helps to decrease frequent medium accesses, which improves throughput to a considerable extent. During server builds we performance a detail surface analysis on all new drives and examine both the factory and grown defect tables. This mechanism had a low incidence of factory defects and following a hard format, no grown defects.
