Extremely small form factor. A standard laptop HDD is 9.5mm tall; this one shaves 2.5mm off to become only 7mm tall. If you need an extremely small form factor HDD, this one’s for you. The length and width is the same as other laptop HDDs, so this should fit in your existing laptop or anywhere you have a laptop drive. SmartAlign technology produces 4K sector performance on operating systems that don’t support 4K sectors (Windows XP, for example). This technology won’t matter if you’re using a modern OS such as Windows 8, but it is nice for those who are using a legacy OS. This drive performs as well as you’d expect it to. If you’re using a SATA III compatible system, you’ll get increased performance with this drive as opposed to SATA II. This drive is SATA II and III compatible for both older and newer systems. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 8 x64 on this drive. It only took 10 minutes to install, and other 5 to set up. Simple and quick!
