Great Board

ASRock Z170 Extreme4 LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock Z170 Extreme4 LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: -Slick looking design -IO shield is also nice looking -Good quality components -Simple, non flashy BIOS -PCIe layout is preferable to me -Fan headers can control via PWM or voltage. -I personally did not run into hardware compatibility issues -I like that there isn't a bunch of integrated extras; it keeps things simple and you run into less issues (in my experience)

Cons: -If you are less than very familiar with computers, steer clear of Windows 7; it will be a headache for you to install with this board. -This is SUPER nit-picky, but the Realtek audio software has the same interface as its had for the last 5 or 6 years.

Overall Review: I usually do my Windows installs in legacy mode, but I was running into trouble, so I went UEFI on this build. So far everything is working fine. Other system specs: CPU: 6700k RAM: x2 8GB Kingston HyperX Fury (2166Mhz 14-14-14-35) GPU: R9 295x2 PSU: NZXT HALE90 850W OS: Windows 10

Most Critical Review

be gentle

Rosewill 6.5-Foot USB 2.0 A Male to Micro USB B (5-Pin) Cable, Black (RC-6-USB-AM-MB-BK)

Pros: Worked well for about 2 months

Cons: after the two months, it stop working. I wasn't super gentle with it, but I wasn't using it as a jump rope either.

6th Asrock board -- no issue so far

ASRock Z370 Extreme4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock Z370 Extreme4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: -Robust power delivery for the CPU -Conservative styling -Nice slot layout -lots of USB headers if you need them -dual M.2 and two extra SATA ports than normally on Z370 boards -USB 3.1 Type C header for new cases that support that -Intel LAN

Cons: -I'm not a huge fan of the cutouts in the IO shield for if you install a WiFi module. -The LED lighting is not uniform (for example, if you set the shroud & "Purity Sound" lighting to red, it doesn't totally match)

Overall Review: "This review for ASRock review rebate program." -At this point VGA and PS/2 ports don't really need to be on a modern motherboard

This is a phenomenal case.

Phanteks Evolv PH-ES515E_AG Anthracite Gray Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Phanteks Evolv PH-ES515E_AG Anthracite Gray Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: -Exceptionally well thought out design -High quality build material (3mm aluminum shell!) -Sturdy feeling -Pretty (subjective, but I think it is) -Easily removable fan filters -Hinged panels -Above average expandability -The finish doesn't attract fingerprints! -Organizer box included for hardware (conveniently fits in a 3.5" bay) -Room for bottom-intaking PSUs to get fresh air when chassis is on carpet (which is also filtered) -Fan hub uses SATA power (yay, no molex!)

Cons: -The power LED is not defused uniformly (some parts are brighter than others)

Overall Review: I work at a system integrator (custom PC company), so I have hundreds of builds under my belt. This is the nicest case I've ever built in -- no question.

Exactly what I was looking for

Acer XG270HU omidpx 27" 2K QHD 2560 x 1440 1ms 144Hz AMD FreeSync Technology Edge-to-Edge Frameless Design DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort Built-in Speakers LED Backlit LCD Gaming Monitor
Acer XG270HU omidpx 27" 2K QHD 2560 x 1440 1ms 144Hz AMD FreeSync Technology Edge-to-Edge Frameless Design DVI-D HDMI DisplayPort Built-in Speakers LED Backlit LCD Gaming Monitor

Pros: -2560x1440 I really like this resolution - lots of pixels without requiring insane hardware for steady frames -144hz!! I'm coming from a 1920x1080 120hz, and I knew there was no going back for me. I love the smoothness. -Freesync. Pretty cool, but even if this monitor didn't have this feature I would buy it again anyway -Colors look great once calibrated. They're kinda "meh" out of the box (and insanely bright). Also the monitor's gamma options are too narrow -- make sure you adjust your gamma from the OS or display driver software -Mine was pixel perfect!

Cons: -I think the matte finish is a little too grainy -- not terrible, but I was coming from a gloss screen so its pretty noticeable to me. -I'm about positive mine came with the old firmware. Fast movement with Freesync enabled is quite a bit blurrier than static 144hz. -As you've probably read already, there's no height adjustment, and no VESA mounting (there are adapters out there though).

Overall Review: The bezel isn't as insanely thin as they make it out to be. When the screen is on there's an additional .25" border that simply looked like it would be part of the display when the screen is off. Not a negative, but good to know if that was a big reason for you considering this monitor. System specs: CPU: 6700k GPU: R9 295x2 MEM: 16GB DDR4 (2133Mhz 14-14-14-35) OS: Windows 10

great inexpensive board

ASRock H81M-ITX LGA 1150 Intel H81 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
ASRock H81M-ITX LGA 1150 Intel H81 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard

Pros: I'm using this board in an htpc build, and it does really well in that application. I really like that the fan headers can adjust voltage or via pwm depending on the type of fan you connect to them. The layout is pretty decent -- nothing really felt like it was in a weird spot, and I didn't run into any obstruction issues.

Cons: None. There are fewer features than other, more expensive motherboards, but that's the point. If you want those features, you have to shell out a little more scratch. Just to note what is 'missing': -There's only two sata ports -No usb 3.0 header -The PCIe slot is gen2 -IO shield is plain pressed metal I'm okay with the compromises that were made to get this board at this price level though.

Overall Review: This is my fourth Asrock motherboard in a row, and I'll keep buying from them until one fails -- then it's up to their RMA department to keep me around. For now I'll continue recommending them.
