Pros: This is a fast and quit machine. It runs very cool. It runs Vista great. All the drivers for Vista work perfectly. Windows XP drivers included too. I purchased my 1st Shuttle 3 years ago. This is my 2nd. The integrated video works great for my needs. I thought about buying a video card, but the integrated video works fine on my Apple 23 inch cinema display. I do not plan to play games on this PC because I have a game console.
Overall Review: The mobo provides 3 SATAII connectors but only one cable is included in the package. You may need to purchase additional cables separately like I did. The power supply provides only 2 SATAII power plugs. If you need a 3rd like I did, you will need to purchase a SATA Serial ATA Power Cable. It's only about $1. Be sure to purchase only the cheaper OEM CPU and not the retail box edition that includes a fan. Shuttle includes its own ICE cooling system. Do not forget to purchase your thermal compound. Since I purchased an OEM CPU, no thermal compound was included. My Config includes: SATA DVD/CDROM - 160 GB SATA harddrive - 250 GB SATA harddrive - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - 4GB RAM
Purchased for my IP Camera
Pros: My surveillance camera is an IP camera and works with Power Over Ethernet (PoE) switch. This switch works as expected and is able to power my camera. This switch is a rugged and sturdy metal case. No cheapo plastic case here. Be aware that the power adapter is built-in. In other words, no external power adapter. The power cord is a three conductor PC power cable.
Overall Review: Using this switch with Axis IP surveillance camera model P1405-E. This switch is a great match-up for my camera.
Great Driver Support
Pros: I installed this card on a server I built that includes a SuperMicro motherboard X9SRL-F ATX. And, the operating system (OS) is VMware ESXi 5.5. Adaptec provides drivers that supports this OS and I found it to be most compatible. This card performs very well. The heatsink has four threaded studs, one on each corner to mount a cooling fan right on the heatsink. I purchased a Noctua A-Series NF-A4x10 40mm cooling fan to mount on the heatsink. The specs for the fan screws are: 4 x (M2.6 x 12L) screws. This size screw is very hard to come-by and I understand this size is a Chinese metric. I never heard of a Chinese metric. Anyways, a hobby shop was where I found screws of size (M2.6 x 10L) and they worked very well.
Overall Review: Be sure to purchase the this card kit because it includes the proprietary cable. The stand-alone card for less money does not.
Best Wireless AP
Pros: This is the best wireless AP that I have purchased. Over the many years, I have purchased many different wireless AP and they have all been of the consumer type, cheap. This AP has been the best. It is very stable and reliable. And the user interface is very straight-forward. Although it includes a ceiling mount, I installed it flat on a desk. This AP has only two (2) Ethernet ports (RJ45). The are labeled LAN1(PoE) and LAN2. LAN1 is intended for your router’s input and LAN2 for connecting a device such as a PC. I initially connected my router to LAN2 and could not be it to work. Ensure to connect your router to LAN1 and it should be fine. I must have misinterpreted the documentation.
Cons: no cons
Pros: This unit works perfectly and the remote port selector is very cool. It allows me to place the main unit out of sight while also having the small remote selector in a convenient spot. Switching from one computer to the other is fast switching. My Logitech wireless mouse and wireless keyboard works very well with this KVM. I just took my existing little wireless Logitech Unifying receiver and plugged it into the base of this KVM. So now when I switch computers from one to the other, my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse also switch properly. My expectations have been exceeded.
Overall Review: When I come home from work with my laptop, I can now use my full size monitor, wireless keyboard and wireless mouse with my laptop or switch conveniently back to my home PC.
