Hi everyone,
I’m planning a new PC build and could use some advice from people who have experience with both gaming and web development.
One of my current projects is a Geometrrydashapk community website that’s still in development. Besides the usual articles and downloads, I’m working on features like player profiles, custom leaderboards, and some interactive pages that I’ll need to test across different browsers.
My current system is starting to struggle when I have several things open at once—VS Code, a local development server, multiple browser windows, Photoshop, and occasionally a virtual machine. I also like to test games while working, so it’s not just development workloads.
I’m trying to decide where my budget will make the biggest difference.
Would you prioritize:
- A higher-core-count CPU or a faster GPU?
- 32 GB vs. 64 GB of RAM for this type of workload?
- Is PCIe Gen 5 SSD storage worth it, or is a good Gen 4 drive more than enough?
- Any cooling recommendations if the PC will be running for long development sessions?
I’m aiming for a build that will last several years without needing major upgrades, so I’d rather spend a little more now if it’s worthwhile.
I’d appreciate hearing what hardware you’re using if you do similar development work alongside gaming.
Thanks!
