Pc build tips

Hello,
I would like to build a new pc with a budget of $750. Used parts are ok, but not the psu. I already have 32gb of DDR4 ram, in two sticks. I also have found a used RX 6900 XT that looks good for $300. I want at least 8 cores on an AM4 platform.
I need to be able to use blender and play games like rocket league and Minecraft with high settings, shaders on Minecraft.
Please give me your ideas and thanks for the feedback!

does that $750 include what you spent already?

I haven’t spent anything yet, the ram was a gift, and the $300 for the gpu does use the budget. So for everything else, $450 budget. Thanks for asking!

Here’s s pcpartpicer list:

I know it is $100 over your budget, but if you can get the $100 than I think that this will work
(And if you look check the bottleneck calculator to see if there is a bottleneck than it would be a gpu bottleneck, not a cpu bottleneck which means that the gpu is being fully utilized but the cpu can do more things. And that is if you get the 6900xt)

Thanks for this! I was thinking a 7 5700X, because it’s cheaper and still benchmarks pretty well. I can probably make the $100 above budget work.

Are used ssds ok? I would prefer to have more re than one terabyte. Right now my gpu is really badly bottlenecking my pc. I’ve got a prebuilt pc with just a 180 watt psu. It’s an i5-7500 with a NVIDIA gt 1030.

Also, I’m open to having an hdd along with a smaller ssd

You can always add another SSD later in the second slot. Starting with a 1TB SSD is a solid choice, and you can upgrade to a larger drive in the future if you need more space. Traditional HDDs are largely outdated for modern systems and are best avoided now. They have much slower read and write speeds, which leads to longer boot times, slower game and application loading, and more hitching in newer games.

SSDs are also far more responsive because they have no moving parts, making them quieter, more reliable, and better suited for today’s operating systems and games. Unless you already have a spare HDD for bulk storage like backups or media, spending money on a new one usually isn’t a great value compared to the noticeable performance improvement you get from an SSD.

Dont forget about open box/retuned items. sometimes you can find really good deals on Newegg and Amazon.

Did you know that ssds are made with electron traps? They can represent 8 different values, 0 to 7 in binary.

A 5700x is more expensive than a 5700xt, but if you do what I did for my build were you buy the components as you get the money for them than It my be worth it to get this combo off of Amazon:

And if you wanted to go the route were you buy the components as you get the money than here’s a list of components other than the ram:
Power supply:

Case:

Cpu cooler:

Ssd:

And finally, hdd:

And if you get the used gpu that you mentioned than you will still be gpu bottlenecked, but regular minecraft is cpu intensive, but with shaders is it probably more gpu intensive, so my recommendation would be to get a used $200-$250 gpu, so you can get a more powerful gpu sooner

Do you guys think that I could get by with a newer Ryzen 5 and motherboard instead?

Sure! Here’s a list with a combo deal(saves 169.99) B850 MB 9060X CPU 16GB DDR 5 with CPU Cooler
https://newegg.io/cd15a3e
$459.96 Cart price
Just AM5 B850 board & DDR 5 Ram combo $229.99
AMD Ryzen 5 9600X $199.99
Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler 29.98
This with a 6900XT will get you around 500FPS on Minecraft Java at 1920x1080
around 300FPS at 2K

That M.2 drive is overpriced you can get a GEN 5 10200 MBps+ drive for $112.99

I was trying to find one quick and I was also trying to find a reputable seller, and I was on Amazon not newegg so that also makes a difference

Alright I looked, and I found some used 2080 TIs and they’re about a third of the price of the 6900 XT. For what I want to do, would that still be powerful enough? As an addition, I do also eventually want to get into bigger games.

No matter what gpu you pick, it’s only a place holder until you can get at least a 5060ti 16gb or a 9060xt 16gb, although according to Google the 6900xt is more powerful than a 2080ti. And for minecraft with shaders it really depends on what shader pack (or packs) your using. And for rocket league, I think that the 6900xt would be better. But for blender, I have no experience with, so you would need to do the research. And how much can you put towards this a month? About $20, or something more like $50-65 dollars a month?

I’ve been saving and I can pay for it all at once if that’s what you meant

I was wondering how much you could put aside from what you got paid (if you get paid), and depending upon that you could decide if you what to make a budget build, or build the system that I left liks to in one of my last posts.
