My friend keeps telling me how The RTX 5090 is bad due to fake frames, cable problems, FPS issues, and many more things. He says the RX 9070 XT is better. PLEASE help me convince him wrong!!!

They’re completely different products, and they each have pros and cons. In some ways, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is better.

The RTX 5090 is faster but that doesn’t necessarily mean better. GeForce RTX 5090 costs at least $1999 (most models are more), requires an extremely beefy power supply which will also cost a pretty penny, generates a ton of heat so you need a case with high airflow which can cost more, takes a ton of electricity so you’ll be paying more on your electric bill. On top of all those, yes you have to be careful with the power connection in order to make sure it’s seated properly to avoid melting.

On the other hand, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has an MSRP of $599 and is regularly available in the $649-699 price range while delivering a completely playable experience at 1440p in pretty much every game on the market, and all but the newest highest-end games will run smoothly in 4K on an RX 9070 XT. You still get 95% of the functionality for a third of the price, not to mention it’ll run comfortably on a 750W power supply costing under $100.

Spending more money for diminishing returns is not for everyone - if the RTX 5090 was always better in every way, then everyone would own one. It’s not better on the price, on price-to-performance ratio, and many other factors. In a perfect world where the RTX 5090 was the same price as an RX 9070 XT, then you’d be correct that an RTX 5090 was better. It’s just faster.

I think I send a video talking about this, but I’ll post it again because I like it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzjxfMQ_fis

If you have 2000 USD, You can spread that out for better performance than just upgrading the GPU as your current hardware might not be able to leverage the GPU in a meaningful way.
