Hi just wanted to get others input. Im currently running a 11900k, 64gb 3200ddr4, and a 5070ti. I was bottlenecked pretty bad so im playing at 4k to help. I want to upgrade just dont want to pay ddr5 prices plus mobo and cpu. Trying to find a z790 mobo compatible with 14900k and ddr4 thats not 600 is like a witch hunt or from 3rd party sellers on newegg. Does anyone have experience buying from 3rd party sellers on here? Also what would your guys advice be. Thank you
While it was just a keyboard I had no problem. I think you get some protection being its on Neweggs site, kinda like Amazon.
Hello @Howuber307 and welcome to the Newegg Gamer Community!
To be frank, memory prices have gone up considerably across the board. We recently checked with Micro Center for the pricing on 2x32GB kits of DDR4, and found the least-expensive new kit is now over $500. That means you have 3 relatively valuable parts:
- 64GB worth of DDR4, which ought to sell for 300+ on the used market
- 11900K, which is the top CPU for that socket, selling for somewhere in the 200-300 range on the used market
- Presumably a Z590 motherboard, and since these are out of production, if you have a fairly nice model with good VRM capacity, you can likely sell it for over 100.
Sell all of it, get 600+ for all of it, and make the move to DDR5. If you’re willing to step your memory capacity down to 32GB, at least temporarily, selling your old parts will mostly fund the new.
And just go AMD. Grab a combo setup from Micro Center and make the most of the money you got from selling your old parts - their 7800X3D combo with 32GB RAM and motherboard is priced competitively, and would match up quite nicely with your 5070Ti.
Thank you guys for the responses. I think im going to go with the upgrade. I found a mobo and ram deal on here for a really good price and i think ill go with a 9800x3d
