thinking about what motherboard to get and i realized, i just make sure it has enough ports and supports like gen 4 or 5 storage and ddr5 ram.
what else do u guys look for?

I look for whether it can support overclocking, I look for what wifi it has 6E or 7. I look at whether it is AM5 or AM4.
I look at whether it’s a crappy/decent ASRock versus MSI, Asus, etc.
How many nvme/pcie lanes.
I like looking at the ports, more USB, what the speeds of the USBs are.
That is about it.
was gonna say the speed of the lanes but you beat me to it
I mentioned speed of the USB not speed of the lanes! So you can still say that.
Thanks everyone for your responses!
One thing I like is having alot of storage options. Sometimes motherboards will have several m.2 slots but will impede your ability to use all of them without sacrificing the performance of your PCIe slots and/or SATA ports to a noticeable degree. Sometimes occupying a particular m.2 slot will completely disable your second PCIe slot or will take away a few of your SATA ports all together. I would also like to have 2.5Gb/s (not GB/s… we are not NASA) if it were totally up to me considering i currently have a separate network card just so i can utilize the entire bandwidth of my fiber optic network at home.
