Why Do Some Background Tools Randomly Affect Game Performance and Stability on PC?

Hey everyone, I’ve been running into something a bit confusing with my setup lately and wanted to see if anyone here has dealt with something similar.

I’ve got a decent mid-to-high-end gaming PC, and most of my games run perfectly fine, but every now and then I notice weird performance dips or conflicts when I’m running certain third-party tools alongside games. Nothing malicious or anything, just utilities that interact with games in different ways. What’s strange is that sometimes everything works smoothly, and other times I get crashes, stutters, or even warnings from the system.

Recently, while troubleshooting, I came across a conversation mentioning deltaexector and how tools like that might behave differently depending on system configs, drivers, or even anti-cheat integrations. That got me thinking—how much of these issues are actually hardware-related versus software compatibility or even background processes interfering with each other?

Another thing I’m curious about is whether platforms or game launchers silently restrict or react to certain tools without clearly notifying users. Like, could something be affecting performance behind the scenes without triggering an obvious error?

I’m not trying to break any rules or mess with game integrity, just trying to understand why a stable system suddenly becomes inconsistent depending on what’s running in the background. Has anyone here experienced similar behavior or figured out a reliable way to identify what’s causing these conflicts?

Would appreciate any insight, especially from those who’ve done deeper system-level troubleshooting.

Can you tell us what your pc specs are, what games you play and at what settings and resolution, and what background tools that you are using? That will alow us to help a lot more then just guessing everything.

I use cheat engine and I do not find that it causes instability. I feel like deltaexecutor seems sketchy, but I don’t know anything about it. Does it only happen when deltaexecutor is open?

I highly recommend answering what @FarmCrafter1023 has said.
