Terrible 10/29/2017 4:30:08 PM

Pros: - None

Cons: - This is hands down the worst video card I have ever owned. I have had great success with EVGA as a whole, and Nvidia cards. The only card I had an experience this bad with was my Radeon HD 4870x2!

- This card runs hottt, easily hitting 90C while playing games. The framerate in many games isn't as high as one would expect from a card this expensive.

- It is LOUD. This card really ramps up it's fans, but still fails to cool the card adequately, but sure does make a lot of racket. The coil whine is almost unbearable.

This card died in about a year, it was fixed through an RMA. It died again within 3 months. They sent out a replacement that lasted about a year again, and it has once again died. What an awful experience. When I shell out a couple hundred dollars for a component, I expect it to last. My EVGA GTX 580 is still running strong, and I bought this card to replace that one!

Pass on GIGABYTE, buy EVGA.

Great Card 9/5/2015 6:18:48 PM

Pros: Can run pretty much anything at high-ultra settings with little to no FPS drop

Cons: It gets a little hot. You will need to install AMD's control software to turn the fan speed to max, and invest in some aftermarket cooling

Go water cooled 5/3/2015 5:35:07 PM

Pros: Runs most games maxed out, tends to out perform my 8350 @4.6 with 16g, 1866 memory. I think if I had a better cpu than this card would really shine.

Cons: Loud fans and makes a lot of heat, don't bother with cards like this if you don't have a lot of air moving thru the case.

Overall Review: First one died after 8 hours, second rcard has been running fine. I due tend to get odd and random like artifacts or glitches while gaming. Not sure if its hardware related or software but it does detract from your confidence that its not going to crash mid game. Seems to keep on working most time, I think the key is keeping the temps below 90, above that your asking for trouble.

A powerful, power hungry, hot, graphics card 4/22/2015 8:59:28 PM

Pros: Has lasted long, works as expected, benchmarks are similar to what you can find on review websites. Doesn't throttle down.

Cons: THE HEAT!! Usually Gigabyte's Windforce cooler is overkill, but this card pushes it. It's not the quietest thing in the world, but you're not getting much quieter without putting water or Arctic on it.

But... I knew this going in, and the other 290s can only dissipate the heat so much, so still 5 eggs.

Overall Review: When we first put this card in, the computer died after loading up Far Cry 3. Turns out the sh**-tastic power supply that Cyberpower put in our computer couldn't take 70% load. How about that...

No issues after getting a Corsair 600W. Buy good power supplies my peeps.

Problems with heat, quality, and RMA 2/17/2015 6:49:56 AM

Pros: It is, in fact, an R9 290. When it runs it is capable of pushing 60 fps at 1440p with many modern games at very high settings. Enjoyed playing BF4, Shadows of Mordor, and Star Citizen Arena Commander at max, or near max, 1440p.

Cons: HEAT! As with 290s and 290Xs this thing could cook an egg! The fans scream in a case with very respectable airflow. This results in throttling in many situations, but not until after the fans have pegged at their "jet engine" setting.

After about 10 months of ownership I began to have issues with the card was suddenly placed under load by a game launch. This resulted in artifacts and eventually crashes with increasing frequency. The card finally died late last month at a young age of a year. This began the most frustrating part of owning this card.

RMAing to gigabyte has been absolutely awful! After submitting an RMA I was able to get a code after several days. I sent several emails asking for clarification of the process and NEVER received any response (I eventually had to call in, and over a week later the emails still haven't been responded to). Based on UPS shipping I know my card was signed for on noon of the 13th. It is now the 17th and my RMA still say gigabyte is waiting for the card to arrive.

Overall Review: Avoid at all cost! If the card dies (and based on other reviews it seems likely to) you will have to deal with gigabyte returns, which is awful. I would be much more angry if I hadn't decided to buy another card in the interim. In fact, this experience was so bad I bought by first ever nVidia card and I have to admit that I love it. And for the record, my 970 has no trouble with heat in the same case.

After 6 Months, I finally fixed it. 2/14/2015 6:04:34 PM

Pros: After installing this, my computer kept crashing. Temps were fine. I thought it might be my power supply, so I bought a new one. It still would randomly crash. I declocked the card and it was more stable with few crashes. Finally, I decided to load SAPPHIRES BIOS onto the card. It has not crashed once in almost 4 months and gives me the same exact FPS in games.

Cons: gigabyte has horrible QA. I will never buy another product from them.

and yes I had gigabyte's latest bios for the card.
