Hopefully dumb question. Specs say this SSD is SATA III. I assume it is backward compatible with SATA II and will drop down to that speed when connected to a SATA II controller on the motherboard. Am I right?

Hello Steve, Better to be safe than sorry I always say! You are correct, this will still work on a SATA II controller but will not be able to achieve its full potential due to the bandwidth limitations of SATA II when compared to SATA III. Hope this helps! Newegg Support
