Is this drive good for NAS use. It says enterprise use but does that mean it can be used in a smaller NAS Qnap device?

Accepted Answer

I use these drives in my Synology NAS without problems.  You should check the Qnap's "list of supported drives" to see if these drives have been approved for use in your model.  If not, that doesn't mean they won't work (necessarily), but it might mean you'll get no tech support if they don't work for you.

Question 2

This HD is listed as SATA 6 Gb/s would it be 3 Gb/s compatible?

Yes as far as I know most drives if not all listed as SATA 6 Gb/s are backwards compatible with older 3 Gb/s SATA 2.0 controllers.  I found out the hard way that older drives in some cases will not be compatible with SAATA 6 3.0  Gb/s controllers or SAS 2.0 12 Gb/s controllers.  You should be fine.

Question 3

The picture of the HDD shows a "SATA" interface, but in the product title and also the Specs tab "SAS" is claimed to be the interface.

Can I install this drive in a Mac Pro (2009 4,1) running El Cap (10.11.4)?

Can this drive be used in multiple bay NAS. If so which NAS bays are most compatible?

There are a few options for this drive SE or ISE. For home/work use, does it really matter. I just want a big, super reliable SATA drive.

I think this is what it means
SE is self-encrypting?
ISE is instant self erasing?

Also all drives are 512E, does this pose any issues for a relatively standard Windows 7 computer (I7, 32GB).

SE=Secure erase (non-crypto option), ISE= Instant Secure Erase (with a Crypto Option).
