Pros: Great performance for the money. With this processor, a Gigabyte P35-DS3R and an AC Freezer 7 Pro, I was able to take this to an easy 3.2ghz on stock voltage. With more voltage and better cooling I could go further (It has posted at 3.6ghz) but why bother? This processor is a great value.
Cons: This processor is advertised as having Intel Virtualization Technology, which it does not. Had I known this, I would have gotten a low end E6xxx series as I need Intel VT for development purposes. This does not make the processor less of a value, but should serve as fair warning to always check the manufacturers site to confirm the specifications.
Overall Review: If you're looking for a low end C2D processor and have no need for VT, I strongly recommend this processor for its low cost and ease of overclocking due to the higher multiplier.
Pros: I've put 4 of these into budget bare bones systems and they've all performed flawlessly. I don't overclock them as it's not needed for my client's useage but given my success with overclocking other C2D CPU's, I have little doubt that there is a great deal more performance that can be squeezed out of this CPU.
Cons: None but there is a fairly substantial increase in performance for a little extra $$ by going to the E6550.
Overall Review: If you're building a budget machine where the spending has to be kept to an absolute minimum, this is a great choice. Right out of the box it performs well, passes all stress and stability burn in tests with no problems and won't break the bank. As I said though, the E6550 is only $45 more and offers quite a bit more performance. If you can budget that extra $45 in, by all means get the 6550 but if it's just not possible, this one will do well.
Pros: Overclocks easily (266 x 11 = 2.926Ghz) with GA-G33M-S2L, G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800, and a stock Heatsink & fan. Idles at 30C, 44C under the full load per Speed Fan. 37C/50C per MB.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I fully upgraded my old Compaq Presario SR1350NX. I only used the case, CD player, DVD burner, and HDD, almost built new one. All parts are from Newegg.com!! including DYNAPOWER USA EP-50X.C563-BX ATX12V 500W, EVGA 256-P2-N758-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3.
Pros: Wow, first off, I'm glad I got this. I was considering getting a 6550, or maybe a 6750 for not much more, but I'm glad I didn't. I decided that this would be my upgrade to hold me over until I can get one of the new Penryn processors coming out, plus this way I have some money left over going towards my 9800gtx. Anyways, I love this thing. It's really all I need, I've only OC'd to check temps, and they were fantastic. It runs extremely cool!
Cons: Uhm, honestly, I don't think I've ever seen it at 100%. I can't stress it enough doing basic things other than stress tests :]
Overall Review: Wow, not going to lie. This thing is extremely chilly. I'm running at 29c idle, 35c load, at stock. At 2.8ghz, it's still 29c idle, and around 39c load. All of this with an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. My rig, nothing amazing: Thermaltake Armor, GA-P35-DS3L, Intel Core 2 Duo E4500, 2x1gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 ram, EVGA 7600gt, Antec Earthwatts 500w PSU, 320gb WD 7200rpm SATA HD.
Pros: Probably the best CPU out there for this price. I was able to push it to 3.0GHz without touching voltage and 3.2GHz with only .075 voltage increase. I am convinced this thing can go much farther.
Cons: If you are planning on overclocking make sure you buy a new heatsink because the stock one runs a little hot (52C max load for me). The ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 along with Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound will let you push this thing to 3.2GHz easily.
Overall Review: A lot cheaper than the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+(was only able to get it to 2.8GHz stable, .2GHz increase, with .125 voltage increase) and able to do a lot more.
Pros: In less than 10 minutes after installing OS and Ect.I had this BAD BOY running along at 3GHZ,thats up where a 1K dollar chip runs,BUY this chip and save your $ for a good Vidio Card! This is my setup,Antec Trio 550 Watt PSU,case, coolmaster Centurion,CPU cooler, Masscool 8WA741,Memeory G-Skill 2x1Gig F2-6400CL5D,Video, Evga 8600GT 256-P2-N753,Hard-drive Seagate 7200.10 320Gig,MoBo Abit IP35-E,this mobo is the single most important item to have,in my opinion.Plenty of air flow!!!! I have 4 120Mm fans,87cfm,1 in front of case, and 1 in case door blowing right on the Vid Card and CPU,North & South Bridge,2 in rear sucking out hot air,all controlled by BIOS fan control,Great Feature.Just can`t have too many fans, cooling is a must!!!!All these items were bought right here at NEWEGG!!!
Cons: NOT ONE!! Everything above arrived in 3 days or less,NO DOA`s,Not one problem.Don`t use EVGA disk,go to their web-site and download drivers from there. For those that say Antec trio 550 is a problem on this board, bull, ,hook up 24 pin, hook up 8 pin,and hook up 4 pin connector to aux power for PCI slots. Its in the Manual, read it!!
Overall Review: After getting everything booted up and drivers installed ECT,PC running stable get a couple peograms to watch core temps ,like CORE TEMP,oh yea I used MX2 thermal paste.READ your manual that comes with the motherboard FIRST!! It is very helpful with setting up your PC right the first time.I can`t stress this enough for beginners, and maybe Google some info on Overclocking before you screw somthing up and start whinning that your chip won`t overclock! It`s easy if you read and go slow.this is what I did,Disable EIST,its in the manual, bumped up V-Core to 1.35,upped ram to 1.9v,set FSB to 273,hit F-10 then Enter, there you have it 3GHZ,I can go higher but WHY, this is a plenty, idle 17c,full load under Orthos 43c,Watch your temps, don`t get crazy and have FUN.READ MOBO MANUAL untill you understand it!!and one other thing I have all round cables,no ribbons to hinder air-flow,harddrive is hooked up to sata with 2 dvd burners, master and slave hooked to the single IED.Lite-On
Pros: Simply AWESOME "almost" completely backward compatable with "almost" any mobo you currently have, due to the 800mhz. I own the NEW 3.0 in my own sytem and other than VIDEO rendering I dont notice a difference in any other applications. I replaced my wife's PD 2.8 with this"without telling her" and she noticed a difference right away. I also own the 2.0 that runs my media center. I have built several systems as of late using the 2.2. It is the BEST desktop chip for the $. Allendale- GOOD WORK- intel
Cons: none-and believe me im known to complain
Overall Review: for newE-i recvd this order and the box had been ripped opened and the CPU was missing. UP$-was NO HELP. NE replaced the item FREE OVERNIGHT ! Thier customer service is getting better than it used to be HOWEVER you DO have to wait on hold for a VERY long time to talk to anyone which is still annoying

Eggxpert Review
Pros: Good for general desktop use
Cons: slower compared to newer sockets
