Why did WD misrepresent this series of drives? Did they really think that no one would notice that these are SMR? For the money, I expect reliable and fast disks that are actually suitable for NAS application. Is it just me? Why should I trust WD at all going forward?

I've decided to move to Enterprise drives (i.e. Seagate Exos). 5 year warrantly, 7200rpm, very little price increase (if any).

Is it a SMR drive or PMR?

The WD Red 2-6tb are SMR and thus generally not considered acceptable for RAID or NAS installations. The 1tb and 6+ tb are CMR Sorry can't include links but if you search Extreme Tech "Western Digital Comes Clean, Shares Which Hard Drives Use SMR" they have a good article.
