Are these drives brand new, never used?

Yes, looked new and the SMART data indicated no use.  I'm not sure how one could tell beyond the information provided by the SMART data.

Question 2

The product title and description have multiple references to both 2TB and 1TB, (even the part numbers are a mix), so which is it?!?

The drive I purchased was 1TB.   So I'm sure this should be correct.

Question 3

Why does the egg webpage state 5 yr limited warranty yet under the warranty tab it says 3 yr? Which is it?

The only way to find out the warranty info accurately is to ask HGST.  You can search on HGST, then click on technical or warranty support, eventually if you keep on looking long enough you will find a form to fill out with the S/N etc. of your drive.  Then comes the Captcha.  I have never gotten by HGST's Captcha  w/o at least 10 tries typing, typing, and retyping several miss-shapened letters -- hardly an exaggeration.  But once by the Captcha, if the S/N is in their system, it will give you the warranty info.  If you see a phone number in your searches, it is much faster to call tech support.  The reps are pleasant and helpful, and usually accurate.

Question 4

Are these used drives with reset smart data?  When were they manufactured?

all drives will have a built date on them - no other way of telling when they were manufactured.  If it was a refurbished drive that would have been stated in the advertising.

Has anyone used this or know if it would work with a Mac Pro 1.1 from around 2006?
