Overall Review: Where do you find reliable drives anymore? 2 eggs because they lasted 3.5 years. I had old Seagates and Maxtors that lasted over 10 years. This drive was in a fairly light duty application for this WD in a NAS. I just spent 24+ hours salvaging data. Are these like all non-american built appliances now with a built in failure? Planned obselescence? Search the lightbulb conspiracy.

If the test is unfortunately inconclusive and you just purchased the drive then you should be able to return it to the place of purchase. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary.

Doesn't work. 11/18/2019 8:37:20 PM

Overall Review: Probably me being really unlucky.
I purchased this harddrive on 4th of Oct (Just over a month and half ago), and didn't have time to install on my system, so I left this in original packaging until today.

I installed the hard drive, and it sounded like it's trying to spin the motor or re-locate the head, but kept failing. Once its booted, it appears on Disk mgmt, but I cannot initialize the disk (of course it can't spin the platters) and end up with bluescreen.

Not sure what my options are at this point.

Defective drive, terrible vendor 11/13/2019 6:41:23 PM

Pros: N/A

Cons: Western Digital / HGST / SanDisk as vendors are to be avoided. Thankfully Newegg has a reasonable return policy.

Overall Review: Drive shipped with buggy firmware preventing UEFI and any operating system from recognizing it. Western Digital / HGST / SanDisk have knowledge base articles covering these firmware bugs but have not updated the articles to mention that Western Digital has discontinued supporting these drives. Instead, Western Digital's overseas support was fixated on checking for bad sectors and offering to replace the drive with a refurbished unit and the same buggy firmware.

Overall Review: Absolutely nothing wrong with this product but it is hardcore OEM. Doesn't go above and beyond in any way to earn a perfect score I suppose. Doesn't come with a SATA cable or any kind of manual. Just a hard drive in a static protection bag in a box.

4 10TB WD Red Drives 10/30/2019 4:16:20 PM

Pros: -All disks worked fine out of the box
-Created a ZFS RAIDZ Volume 25.5 TB available space
-Used in FREENAS home NAS
- Approximately 115Mb second transfer over 1GB Lan speed
-Approximately 400 MB transfer between Datasets
-Drives run cool 40-42 degrees Celsius
-Well packed -no damage

Cons: -Would be better if screws were included

Overall Review: I would recommend these drives for use in NAS. The larger drives provide an abundance of space "Never can have enough"
