Yes they are compatible with Windows Vista.
I have two Silicon Power Armor A60 1TB USB 3.0 drives and have used them on Windows XP, Vista, & Windows 7 without a problem. Also used  them on a Linux system. I highly recommend them.

Hopefully someone can help me out. So I purchased this portable hard drive so I can put my music, movies, shows, etc on here and not have to worry about it taking up room on my PC. However even after formatting it, it only reads 32 GB at most. I need more than just 32 GB's, after all that's why I got a 1T! Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do something to access more than 32? Can someone please help me?

What Stephanie said. Reformat it using NTFS. Check youtube for videos explaining how to do this with your version of windows.

Does this Silicon Power Armor A60 1TB USB drive give S.M.A.R.T. information, such as temperature, read errors and a list of other internal sensor readings? Speed-Fan or similar monitoring software can read SMART info from some brands of external USB drives, does this drive give SMART info?

What is the speed of the disk (5400, 7400)? Why is this feature not mentioned?
If it comes with FAT32, how is this going to work with PC?

My apologies for not being more technically savvy that I am.  I bought the A60 strictly to assure I lost no DATA in traveling back and forth to work every week.  
All I can tell you is I don't care about the disk RPM, I care only about data transfer rate, which for my application is MORE than adequate whatever the disk speed.
I'm using this between Windows 8 and 7 O.S.s, without any issues.
Love It.

Sorry, never used a external Hard drive before so I got multiple (dumb) questions.

1.  You just plug it in and it works on the operating systems listed?  Win 10/8.1/8/7/vista/XP/etc.  No set up required, comes with all the required plug ins?

2.  I hear it cannot transfer large files till you reformat it to NTFS, once you do you can transfer large files?  I plan on backing up my games, among other things, which are mostly many loose files but can get up to 3-6 GB.

3.  It's USB 3.0 but backwards compatible with 2.0.  As long as your PC has 2.0 the hard drive will work perfectly, but just slower?

4.  Tougher question, are there any general incompatibilities I have to look out for?  My PC is  iBUYPOWER Desktop PC SOURCE SERIES NE713i Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 1 TB HDD Windows 8.1 64-Bit  from this site and I got an old Win XP Dell.

1. I have used several external hard drives without a problem and this one worked seamlessly with my Windows 7 system.

2. I don't remember whether I had to format this in a special way before I could use it. Windows 7 uses NTFS by default so it wasn't an issue for me. Perhaps plugging it in to your new system and confirming that it is visible would be a good idea before connecting it to the old, XP system.

3. Yes.

4. I haven't tested my drive against Windows 8.1, etc but I don't know of any reason why it shouldn't work. This seems like basic external drive technology, just in a sturdier package. That's what I wanted and so far, it has worked fine.

Question 7

Some buyers say this is a 5400 rpm. Drive others say 7200 rpm. Which is it? I even see one reply from Ray L. saying inside this is a Samsung Momentus ST1000LM024 drive which really would be weird because Seagate makes the Momentus ST1000LM024 drives not Samsung. So I’m mixed on this drive,does anyone really know whats inside if I buy one today?

Depends.  My answer is that I always yank the drive that came with a refurbished system because hard drives are cheap and wasting time with a REFURBISHED (READ THAT AS USED) hard drive crash is not my version of fun.  The drive is incredibly easy to replace so that is my route.   You can use Windows Image to an external or even a usb stick and restore it to a new drive pretty quick and thne you can pick what speed you want.  Long ago, 7200 meant too hot and early failure so there were times I would pick the slower on purpose to avoid issues with heat.  All depends.  Remember, these are used products and they are being supplied by a variety of refurbishers using whatever was provided to them from whatever company accumulated or retired these systems. What is the cache and rpm for this drive?
I need at least 16 Gb cache and 7200 rpm minimum for video editing

Based on what you are looking for, I would steer you to an SSD 3.0 drive and then use this for long term storage and backup.  You would need to ask the MFG, but my guess would be that this is a 5400 drive with 0 cache.

We picked this drive for a user that is gathering data in the field on streams and rivers.  They have a Getac F110 for their main machine and based on our experience with Silicon Power products I went with a ruggedized drive with a fairly low price point as an in the field backup device.
