Pros: Worked no problem right on install and startup. Windows installed right away and partitioning of that drive actually didn't take that long. Just used one full partition didn't split it or anything.
Cons: None
Overall Review: For being the 5900 RPM version of this drive it actually read/writes very fast. No complaints.
Pros: - Didn't die right away (will do status update soon)
- Low power draw
- PRICE
- 1TB (Only 931GB Formatted though)
- Not the fastest but not SLOW
- Nice packaging
Cons: - None really that you wouldn't expect
Overall Review: Great drive, but you must remember this is a Green drive. So it will be slower than other drives. Also remember this is a "Bare" drive so I doesn't come with cables.
Pros: Have had it running 24/7/365 as my download drive.
Is fast enough for a secondary drive.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I use this for managing all my downloads (I dl everything day in and day out)
Have never had any trouble with it at all.
Got it on shell shocker 10/5/2011 for $40 I should have purchased as many as they would let me!!! That was just before the flooding and the prices went nuts.
Cons: Hard drive failure. This drive has failed I now get error messages telling me to backup my drive. When I reboot I get a S.M.A.R.T. bad drive error. I have checked to make sure that S.M.A.R.T. is not the problem and there are about 40,000 bad sectors now on the disk. This is about the third hard drive I've gotten from New Egg that has died WAYYY too early.
Overall Review: A follow up to my initial review. I did as one (or more) users suggested and formatted this HD in that one computer which recognized it in the BIOS. The HD does works there! But I need it in one of the other systems. When installed in either or the other 2 after this format process, it still doesnt work.
I've bought more than a dozen HD's from Newegg. This is the first one I've had this much trouble with. No reflection on them, but this is a bad product.
Cons: Bought this HD and it was DOA. Tried in 3 separate computer systems. The 1st 2, it didnt show up in BIOS, and didnt function when booted into XP. The 3 system showed it in the BIOS, but still did not function. RMA'd to Newegg and received a new HD 6 days later. But had *exactly* the same results. Showed up in 1 BIOS, but not the other 2. And didnt function at all when booted in XP in all 3 computers. Obviously Seagate has a serious issue with these HD's. I have always bought Seagate drives in the past and have sworn by them. Now I'm swearing AT them.
Pros: Seemed to be a decent price in the current market for a 1TB drive
Cons: DOA. Drive was detected by BIOS but Windows would not initialize the drive and kept giving me an I/O error. Swapped SATA cables, ports etc. Tried the Seagate DiscWizard, HDDScan to no avail. Thought I had a decent deal, but $12 return shipping for a refund has killed any good feelings that I had. This was my first Seagate drive and I will stay away from them in the future.
