Can this be used as a normal hard drive? I bought it to use as a backup drive for a PC and laptop, but neither system detects the drive when I have it plugged into my external casing.

Is this a direct replacement for the Constellation2 drive in a Dell Poweredge R610? looks identical and specs are the same

no clue, but as long as you're replacing a 2.5 inch with a 2.5 inch you won't have any issues. just drop it in, load the OS on it, and off you go.
