This warranty would also start from the DOM usually. The picture shows 2014 DOM so negates any warranty from manufacturer, IMO. So how do you Guarantee 5 year warranty? I dont want to buy a bunch of drives then register them only to find out there is no warranty left on the HDD.

Hello, Typically when a manufacturer advertises a longer warranty period you must first register the item on their website. In this case by default you would get a 1 year warranty without registering the product, but doing so with them should allow for a longer warranty period. I would personally contact Seagate to confirm this as to clarify why they advertise a longer warranty period vs. the standard 1 year listed under the warranty information for this listing.
