They will function but the system will flag a warning that they are not "Dell" drives on startup.  If you are using open manage you'll get warnings in open manage about the drives not being "Dell" drives.  If you have issues with the machine and request dell support you'll get some push back from dell because you are using non-dell drives in the system.

Question 2

Hello.  What is the difference between HD st300mm0026 and HD st9300605ss?   I was searching your site for HD st9300605ss and a message indicated that there is an upgraded version.  However, I could not find the actual difference between the 2 drives.  I have 4 st9300605ss installed in a Raid-10 environment and I am going to add 2 more.

The difference is the st300mm0026 are a slightly bigger areal density, but the main difference is that it allows Encryption where the st9300605ss does not. This information can be found on the Seagate 10K comparison sheet
