Not really, you should find the specs for your laptop or better, remove the existing drive to find the model and specs and check such things as BIOS drive size capability for the laptop, thickness of drive installed, correct interface, etc. to determine if the new if close enough to the old both physically and spec-wise or spec-upgrade-wise.

it works very well on my ps3 however I do not have a slim but I suspect that if the slim takes the same hard drive as a ps3 it'll work

Yes!  And it's a bit of an improvement on load time of saved games, etc.

CAUTION!  You must back up your previous drive first or you will LOSE EVERYTHING!  Follow these steps on Sony's support site for upgrading the HDD (sorry, can't post a link).

What SATA cabel do i need for this to work on my Computer? :)

SATA, SATAII or SATAIII cable should all work but a SATAIII is recommended for fastest operation.  An eSATA or mSATA cable will not work.  You will also need a power cable;  Either a SATA power or a 4 pin molex female will work but do not plug in both.

If the intention is to use this for a notebook, the cables should not be necessary. Notebook drive bays typically have the connections fixed and mounted directly to the motherboard.  It should be as simple as putting your old drive mounts onto your new drive, then sliding it into place until the connections engage.

The best way to find out is to get the hard drive number off the old unit so you can get the measurements online and compare them with the unit you are replacing it with. I have found that these units are compatible with most laptops. Physical size is your most important factor. Like the USPO, if it fits it ships!

There is little practical difference between a retail or ‘OEM’ hard-drive for consumer systems. For the same model, it is the same exact hard-drive with all the relevant internal parts needed to make it function. In general, such hard-drives are primarily marketed at system builders who would rather get a padded box of hard-drives with just the necessary packaging.

In general, OEM packaging looks like this:
You have a hard-drive in a sealed bag and that is it. No SATA cables, manuals, or anything else is included.

Hard-drives absolutely do not ship with exposed platters.

Depending on the type of hard-drive and the SKU, you may get some additional literature (like manuals), a SATA cable, or in the case of some SSDs, a ‘migration kit’ that would let you hook up your hard-drive over USB, image it, and then swap hard-drives.

I'm using this drive to repair my Brazilian neighbors' son's sick, sick HP laptop (actually haven't put it in place yet, but have assured myself that it'll fit). I'm replacing a 1 TB drive, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't work in your scenario.

This drive has the same form factor as a 320 GB drive I replaced in another laptop for her earlier this year.

what are you going to replace this onto with, a Laptop?  it will work well, I myself used it for more space on a ps3. But speed-wise, at 5400rpm, is slow but heat wise is good. going any higher especially for a laptop or ps3 is not really a good idea, unless ya laptop has efficient cooling fans which most do not.. But yes you will be happy with this product, unless ya can afford a 2.5 SSD of similar size, which are more expensive..
