Pros: What can I say?
It's Western Digital, it works, it runs real quiet, and it's just the right size for a basic home PC
Oh, and it was shipped out fast.
Cons: No
No
Overall Review: This drive was just the right size for a basic home PC build I was doing for someone.
I cannot remember when I have ever had a new WD hard drive be a brick.
I buy WD because I trust the thing.
It's as simple as that.
Pros: Best price point for a mid-range 500GB drive, I have another of this drive and it has been perfect in a non-vented enclosure, running reasonably cool.
Cons: Had to download/run DataLifeGuard tool from WD and have it fix errors on my drive. Sadly, that was after installing Win7 twice and coming up with weird errors
Overall Review: Overall, I have been very pleased with Western Digital drives and will continue to buy them. Hopefully, DataLifeGuard fixed the issues for good.
Pros: I love me a good WD drive. It's a hard drive like the rest. 7200rpm gives you good speeds, couple that with the SATA 3 interface and you've got yourself a nice boot drive. Best part about WD is their warranty. I had to use it once after a year and a half on a laptop drive and they replaced it no problem.
Cons: I can't say anything bad against WD drives. Even if it fails, they will take care of you.
Pros: Large capacity hard disk that is extremely quiet when operating. You can barely hear the heads when they are seeking the track. The hard disk was very will packaged and it arrived in excellent shape
Cons: None
Overall Review: Every time I get a new hard drive I always do a full format the first time around just to make sure that there aren't any surface defects on the platters. I just wish that it didn't take so blamed long to format the drive.
If you are in the market for a 500 GB hard drive this one would be hard to beat. I have purchased several and they performed flawlessly.
Cons: Price is a little on the high side but that's most likely due to it having a SATA 6 Gb connection which isn't necessary for this drive since it cannot fully saturate a SATA 3 Gb connection.
Overall Review: Crystal Disk Mark (100 MB Test)
Read: 139 MB/sec
Write: 129 MB/sec
Pros: Solid Performance
Installed Windows XP within 25 minutes on this hard drive.
Replaced a 40gb Western Digital Drive.
Runs Flawlessly. Nearly Silent. Low Heat Output.
Cons: Could be cheaper. Not a Solid State, but it works :)
