Will this work for a dell xps 8300 desktop?

If your computer has a SATA connector to your MB I believe it will work. This drive has a transfer rate of 3.0 Gb/s not the newer 6.0 Gb/s so if your computer is not the newest computer. And even if it is brand new most are backwards compatible. I'm running this drive in an older Windows 7 machine as my "C" drive. Works great with lots of room for programs and data.

I have this hard drive and I am reformatting the computer to Windows 7 from XP. It is asking me for the driver. I looked on WD's website but I can't seem to find the download for the hard disk driver. Can anyone direct me to the correct driver for this hard disk?

No it is a Western Digital HD. Why in the world would you assume it is a seagate when I specifically said it is a Western Digital.
