Pros: IDE, so it's highly compatible with those older desktop's that lack SATA. Good for those folks who don't want to get rid of those older P4 desktops.

Cons: Clean install of W2k. Used default options in installer EXCEPT made 2 partitions, installed W2K to c: and d: had previous hard drive contents moved onto it immediately after W2K installed. Machine ran continuously after install finished until the next day, when I cycled the power and booted again. Drive died- explorer showed every drive letter was assigned. If you went to c:\folderonc\picturesonc you would end up at d:\somethingeleseentirely and d:\somethingelseentirely would take you to c:\windows and every letter was taken; c:\ d:\ e:\...... z:\ and Windows complained extra drives were present beyond Z:\ Ran WD software to diagnose, it locked the PC and may have fried something. The screen changed colors in a psychedelic fashion. shutdown and loaded boot CD. Figured partitions must be messed up somehow. FDisk said logical drives in extended area, looked, nothing there. Noticed then FDisk thinks drive is 10gigs total. reran WD diagnostics. locked up imme

Overall Review: This drive was for a client. The price was higher than expected, the shipping was quick as always. But the shipping was $6ish to get it, but to send back it'll be $10?! And that's with using Newegg to print the label!? Last time this happened, a DOA, I didn't have to pay return shipping... actually, newegg shipped me a replacement in 24hrs and included a label to ship the defective one. When did this change????? I might not use Newegg anymore if they changed policy to charge fees to return defective merchandise; the whole reason I used Newegg is because they DIDN'T charge for defective parts. Admins- please correct me if I am wrong instead of deleting this review. and don't try to tell me this wasn't DOA. Last drive was labeled DOA and failed within 32hrs. Just because it can be plugged in, turned on, and doesn't immediately break in an obvious way doesn't mean it ain't a DOA.

Overall Review: Bought for a clients pc, to replace a failed 20gb drive in there word processing pc. Works great with no problems, and the sound is un-noticeable. but it does heat up a little.

Pros: Great to use with older systems to add some more storage cheaply. I am using it in external drive case to move large files.

Cons: None.

Pros: Delivered in 21 hours. Arrived in good condition. Running very quietly. Installed easily. No issues so far. Price was reasonable and availability of an ATA disk was a plus since they are getting harder to find.

Cons: Assuming it continues to preform as it has so far, I can't think of any Cons.

Overall Review: I wanted this disk to replace a 80GB ATA disk that came in my Computer 5 years ago. The current disk was causing marginal boot problems and had also become quite noisy. I have, for a couple of years, made frequent Image Backups with Acronis TrueImage to provide for just such a situation. Upon receiving the new disk, I replaced the old disk with it . The only issue I had was that the new disk was about 1/8" longer than the old one which prevented the front panel from fitting. I resolved this by removing two of the four screws that screw in to the side of the disk to guide it into the slot. This let the disk slid in farther and the front panel then fit. I booted to the Acronis Boot Disk and entered the Acronis TrueImage Restore program, restored my Image and rebooted to a fully operational computer. This disk allowed me to avoid what would have been an eventual hard disk crash.

Pros: I used this drive in an old P4 machine and now in a new build. I can't throw it away or shelve it. It has been through more virus infections and re-formats than I can count on one hand and it still works quietly and properly.

Overall Review: Now if only I could get this out of these 1TB platter drives.
