Pros: Quiet, runs cool and works perfectly in my MX-1 enclosure.

Cons: None. This is not a performance drive. Its a GREEN drive so there is no point in me complaining about performance when I know what I bought and how its supposed to perform.

Overall Review: I wish people would stop knocking off eggs for price. This is here to rate the product not its price. We can see the price already! What I want to know when I read a review is how dependable it is and any issues someone ran into. Also stop rating a product you don't own! We have reviews of ppl saying they don't trust a drive this size? The drive is great for someone who needs A lot of storage in a single drive. If you don't like the price then don't buy it. If you don't buy it... don't rate it!

Pros: Great drive for low-power PC's. I have a small form-factor HP HTPC with a 180-watt power supply, and this drive runs perfectly on low power. It's also very quiet, which is important for an HTPC.

Cons: None I can see.

Overall Review: This drive replaced a WD Green Power 1 TB that was filling up, and provides huge capacity with low power and quiet operation.

Pros: WD; huge: reasonably fast; low power, cool & quiet despite 4 platters

Overall Review: brilliantly positioned in market by WD; it is a reasonably fast STORAGE drive; my testing indicated about 74 MB/s over a large postion of the drive using a blend of large and small files and faster drives to focus the speeds (R/W) of this drive; the drive is cool & quiet in my hand at load; i almost never recommend passive cooling however this drive ( and the velo raptors and the single platter seagate 500GB) may qualify; i have 30 WD drives and test them all in my hand using a similar methodology and this new model seems in keeping with WD market coverage; this drive is meant to be a STORAGE drive, not an OS drive; it appears it might be well suited for an external enclosure as i would only recommend cool running drives there ( those enclosures usually have awful cooling designs ) ; too early to comment on reliability but mine passed infant mortality period; note seagate apparently thinks it some kind of success announcing they have a competing model 6 mos from now !!

Overall Review: Generally, I'd recommend this for NAS or DVR if it's in your budget, but not as a primary drive for gamers. I bought this for a Ubuntu/Samba home server that I put in a MSI Wind case. I held off on buying a hard disk, because I heard the buzz about the 2TB EADS about to hit the market, and I was reading the buzz about the Seagate failures at the time. I had the NAS server all set up on a CF drive a few weeks before this drive came out, and I was anxiously waiting for this to be released. I bought it on day 1. I've had it for about 3 weeks with no issues so far. It performs just like the 1TB EADS but with twice the capacity. My plan is to add a 2nd one once the price drops below $180 or so for RAID-1 so I won't lose my photos and camcorder videos if a disk fails. If this holds up like my three 1TB EADS have, I'll be pleased, but I figure might as well play it safe with RAID-1 and get a 2nd one, hopefully soon.

Pros: I can confirm these drives work with the WDTLER utility to give better error handling when used in a RAID configuration. One should never consider running these drives in a RAID configuration without enabling TLER to limit internal error recovery to 7 seconds. This is a very simple procedure - Google WDTLER for more information, WDTLER.ZIP for the utility.

Cons: None so far, but it will take days to build the array (6 drives in a RAID6 configuration on a QNAP TS-809 Pro). I will report any problems.

Overall Review: I normally purchase drives elsewhere because of past problems with damaged drives from Newegg due to poor packaging. I was pleasantly surprised to find these drives packaged with twice as much bubble wrap as usual with no exposed corners. I hope this is a policy change for all drives and not just the expensive ones. For my next hard disk purchase I will give Newegg another shot!

Pros: Huge, Cool, Quiet. I'm running 5 of these in a server.

Cons: Still a bit pricey over the WD15EADS

Overall Review: To the guy who vented over a bad drive, if you're knowledge is "High", you'd know that calling Newegg for an RMA would have saved you the return shipping. No need to give a lousy review for a good product because you don't know better.

Pros: First mass marketed hard drive to hit the 2 TB mark. The WD20EADS is a Green drive so performed around ~10 degrees Celsius less than my other hard drive (standard 7200 RPM) under load which is fantastic.

Cons: Slow load up times even though WD reports the contrary. Could be my machine/hard drive. I realize it is Green so it is supposed to be slower but I'm talking about the boot up time of the drive, not the performance under stress. Sometimes it hangs after awhile, too. Not enough to take an egg off. It's for storage after all, not speed.

Overall Review: Goes perfect as a secondary drive for storage. I figure a SSD on the main OS drive paired with this would be excellent for keeping the inside of the case cooler. Reported 1.81 TB in NTFS after conversion for those interested. Don't fear this hard drive. It's working great under heavy loads from my machine and no errors have shown themselves yet (unlike when the 1.5 TB hard drive by a certain other company came out).

Pros: Bought 7 of these to put in a NAS. Changed the TLER with WD's tool, slapped them in the enclosure (thecus n7700) and off it went. I don't know if they're quiet or not, but so far they are getting abused about 18 hours/day with no complaints. I've pulled them from the enclosure to upgrade it and none of them failed, no bad blocks, etc.,. Bought a Samsung 1.5tb at the same time retail and it has already been RMA'd to New Jersey for replacement. Loves me some Western Digital.

Cons: None. Newegg packaged them fine for me, in a slotted tray wrapped in plenty of bubblewrap. All the drives worked out of the box.

Overall Review: I wish WD would release a 2tb enterprise/raptor version for larger arrays.
