New microarchitecture, new level of performance
Piledriver microarchitecture, a tuned-up Bulldozer, has finally reached the flagship AMD FX processors (the new FX series processors are codenamed Vishera) for improved performance and better energy-efficiency. Eight “Piledriver” cores ensure rich, crisp video and seamless multitasking. The AMD Turbo Core technology pushes your core frequencies to the most when you need it most. To top it off, like all other AMD’s Black Edition processors, the new AMD FX eight-core Vishera processor is fully unlocked for fabulous overclocking* capability. Great performance is not the only trick AMD has up their sleeve. Vishera processors are at a reasonable price point.
The bundled processor is updated, named Wraith, giving you better cooling performance while reducing the noise to the level near threshold of human hearing. You'll get better experience from all your applications.
*AMD’s product warranty does not cover damage caused by overclocking even when overclocking is enabled via AMD Overdrive software.

Benefit: Quick access times to system I/O for better performance.
Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology
Benefit: Optimized memory controller to feed more cores.
AMD Virtualization (AMD-V) Technology with IOMMU
Benefit: Helps virtualization software to run more securely and efficiently enabling a better experience when dealing with virtual systems
AMD PowerNow! AMD Technology (Cool'n'Quiet Technology)
Benefit: Helps users get more efficient performance by dynamically activating or turning off parts of the processor.
Pros:
8 cores, reasonable thermals better than my 970 black.
Unlocked design allows for basic multiplier overclocking with no apparent side effects and minimal thermal increase. Have not pushed this because memory was actually wrong type.
Cons:
Was surprised to find out there were only 4 FPU units which severely impacted functionality.
Filed for the rebate, never got it address snafu and the rebate company was not helpful.
Overall performance boost for multiple threads modest.
Filed for lawsuit, was accepted, nothing received.
Overall Review:
At this time, if you can find one, good luck. It will bring new life to your aging system.
Get a Ryzen combo on sale.
Far better per/core performance and the thermals are far lower with the next gen manufacturing processes (die reduction) and other benefits.
Pros: Very fast and powerful, cheaper than upgrading mobo to am4 and having to also buy ddr4 ram. Wraith cooler (stock) keeps temps good but the fan sounds like it's trying to become airborne after about a month. Combo this with one of the evo coolers.
Cons: Not a ryzen.
Overall Review: If you can afford mobo/memory go for a ryzen. If you just need to replace or hold off on a ryzen upgrade this is the way.
Pros: All Good
Overall Review: All Good
Pros:
This AMD FX-8350 CPU replaced the original and works perfectly.
The original Black Edition came with the Wraith Cooler which is a great heat sync except that it came with terrible heat compound. This compound eventually dried lowering its effectiveness and gluing the heat sync to the CPU such that I could not separate the two without pulling the CPU pins out of the closed socket. This, and prying the two apart somehow damaged the original CPU. I replaced it with this used one, using Arctic Silver heat compound.
I used Seti@Home software to stress test all 8 cores to 100% usage simultaneously with no heat or performance problems at the standard 4.0 GHz clock rate. The CPU temp settled at 57C with the motherboard at 23C. In another test, I used the ASUS Auto-Tune function on Fast setting (haven't tried Extreme.) It ran successfully for an 8% overclock rate.
The packaging was well done and delivery within the promised time.
This Used replacement CPU chip is working well with no speed or heat issues.
Cons: I would have liked a shorter shipping time, but the time was acceptable because it is an old cpu not being manufactured, any longer, and it had to come from overseas.
Overall Review: I was happy to find this replacement, at all, and ordering it via NewEgg gave me confidence it would work when It did arrive. I have a feeling, this CPU/Wraith Cooler had a higher than usual failure rate, because of the poor heat compound that came already applied as a thick square to the bottom of the heat sync. Now that that problem has been corrected, the great Wraith Cooler is working very well and is amazingly quiet.
Pros:
Incredible base speed without the need for OC
Great Included Heatsink/Fan that is adequate
Multitasking strengths shine in general office use even when then tasked with average Video Rendering/Editing/Encoding
Cons: CPU runs pretty hot even under normal use
Overall Review: Very happy with this processor for the PC I upgraded in every use-type so far. Have yet to try any type of "gaming" with it since its main purpose is business-related, but will look for an excuse to give it a go.
Pros: It could be fast if it lasted more than 30 min
Cons: I mean it just thermal throttles and goes poof in little time
Overall Review: Just dont its not worth it in 2019 go for an apu if you want a budget pc that can play games the fx series just Boasts high core count over temp
Pros:
I like how fast the processor is
The Wraith Cooler is a really good stock cooler that comes with Themal paste pre applied
Simple to put on your motherboard with great packaging experience
Cons: It definitely shows it's age in specific video games that hold up well with the graphics card, but not the CPU (Although this is rare since most games would do fine with this Processor combine with a great GPU)
Overall Review: This processor can really Handle editing and rendering, but it's really good at gaming in 2019. It's fast with it's stock 4.0 GHz as well as powerful enough to handle the new graphically demanding games with top of the line graphics card like the Gtx 1060 (which I own and use with this product). Let's not forget that the wraith cooler is a very good for a stock cooler that comes with pre-applied thermal paste. I recommend this cpu if you want a cheap and affordable top of the line processor that you want to be able to game.

Pros: It's very reliable if you still have an AM3+ motherboard. It can handle most modern games such as rainbow six siege, war thunder or whatever very easily.
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: yes
