The cartridge drive bay system is really nice even with the okay build quality. It reminds me of my childhood playing with NES cartridges and some 5.25" floppy OS disks from my first computer. This would make for a great drive bay for a student that has a lot of portable data to access at home, in class and anywhere you can use a laptop to kill time etc. USB flash drives are getting quite big but spinning platters and even SATA SSDs are cheaper per TB when your files require a lot of space. There are a few jobs that require taking data into the field or collecting data to analyze at home which having the drive connected to SATA at home or office with much better IOPS than USB is capable of cycling though. Then with the included USB 3.0 cord the drive cartridge can be used by any device with a data enabled USB port.

This device is great. I have mine set up using a RAID 5 configuration using five 750GB hard drives. It runs smooth and is quiet. Several others I have tried in the past have been very noisy, but not this one. This is a great buy and worth every penny.
