Is this a good budget rig

I got the mobo and cpu in a bundle deal so those are non negotiable

Hey Sleepyboi42, I have several things to throw out into the mix here:

  1. The Ryzen 5 5500 CPU isn’t going to take advantage of liquid cooling at all. If you want something better than stock cooling, grab a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum V3 for like 15 dollars. Save the extra $84 and put it towards a better GPU (more savings to come)
  2. You chose a 990 Pro SSD, which is PCIe 4.0, but the Ryzen 5 5500 can only do PCIe 3.0 speeds, so it’s a waste. Get a Silicon Power UD90 instead, it’s 5GB/second but your slot will limit it to 4GB/second anyway, and it’s 55.99 instead of 89.99, so there’s another $34 of savings
  3. You chose a 750W power supply but honestly, your CPU is 65W and GPU isn’t gonna take much at this performance level, grab yourself a Rosewill 650W for 49.99, another $25 of savings.

You can take that $143 you saved from those 3 changes, and get a better GPU - you’ll notice a huge improvement. Ditch the RTX 5050 and get yourself an RX 9060 XT 16GB, they’ve been available in the $350-370 range and will be equivalent to a 5060Ti’s performance for way less money (Those are selling for $429.)

Hey Viraco! Yeah, a Ryzen 5 7600 would be WAY better than a Ryzen 5 5500, but the OP said he already got the 5500 and the motherboard in a combo deal, so I’m under the impression we have to work with those parts.

ahh, ok. Never mind.:man_facepalming:t2:

Thanks

It depends if it’s under 800 bucks I found a really goood deal on a 5060 and 5 9600x deal with tb of storage just over 820 bucks and the deal with the cpu was a 240mm aio

So I already bought the mobo and cpu and I swapped the gpu for an intel b580

There’s two reasons I would recommend against Intel Arc B580:

  1. B580 relies on a super fast CPU in order to handle it, because the drivers to run it take a lot of CPU power. Ryzen 5 5500 will really hold that GPU back from its potential
  2. Since your PC will only have PCIe Gen 3, it will limit the B580’s performance, and given the current pricing of B580 you truly are better off getting an RX 9060 XT 16GB.

What are the Arc GPU’s realy good for because gaming dosnt seem to be their best use. Ive seen them as a second GPU for streming and even for frame gen now.

I found a b580 for $270 and won’t that also allow me to upgrade in the future

Arc GPUs are phenomenal for video encode. So if you do video editing or streaming but NOT gaming, they’re perfect for those uses.
For gaming they are, at best, tied with an RTX 4060 if you have a really good CPU and PCIe Gen 4. Pairing up with a Ryzen 5 5500 which is lower midrange, and is limited to PCIe Gen 3, is gonna be a bad time for gaming. If OP was planning to use this PC primarily to make Tiktoks using Adobe Premiere… this is actually a great budget build for that.
If OP is primarily planning to game, then as much as it pains me to say it, even an RTX 5060 is a better value as it’s 23% faster on average while costing practically the same money. An 8GB edition of the RX 9060 XT is 28% faster on average, and also sells in the range of $270 or so brand-new at this point.
In conclusion, the primary argument for buying an Arc GPU is either to supplement an existing setup for its video encode capabilities, OR for users who mostly do encode work with Premiere or stream games on YouTube that are either coming into a capture card or are fairly basic PC games (think Silksong, Hades, Vampire Survivors). It’s not a BAD gaming card, it’s just bad for the price and there are faster gaming options for the same money, if you aren’t going to do any video editing.

Ok I didn’t know that I will go with the other one

Bro you are NOT getting value. That build is NOT WORTH IT. Hmm my recommendation is to settle with worse but cheaper Motherboard, RAM, get an RX 9060 XT cheapest one is only 20 bucks higher than the 5050. Get cheaper Case for around $30-40$ish and get the cheapest PSU that’s under $50. Also, please, just please, save half the cash on your Fans and get air cooled, water cooling is so overrated. Now, try to get the Best Monitor for you weather you like HZ or Resolution get the best monitor with the money you have left! This Build is trash yet… I think you can make something amazing…

Yeah I already changed it and forgot to change the part picker list
