Hi. It's me again. I know that this hard drive will fit and function in my T61, because on the Lenovo P/N. I just want to sure that this is a Hitachi/Travelstar unit, like the 160GB oem unit in my computer now, or is it another manufacturer, such as Toshiba?

The one I bought from Newegg in Aug. 2013 was manufactured by Toshiba.  The one originally in my T61 was made by Hitachi. I could be wrong, but I believe (having had four ThinkPads) that Lenovo sometimes uses Hitachi, sometimes Toshiba.

In any event, the new Toshiba drive works great and is also much quieter than the original drive.  I just put the new drive in the bay where the old one was, connected the old one externally with the Vantec SATA/IDE to USB Adapter (which I believe I also bought from Newegg), and copied everything over to the new drive with Clonezilla.  Had no problems with this operation -- important to me because I rely on my T61 as my primary computer for work.

I didn't get around to installing the new drive until early 2014, but it's been up and running now for at least 4 months and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
