Is the Exos X10 10TB () CMR or SMR?

CMR. We've been using this drive since last Jan, and so far no issues.

Would this unit work with my Synology NAS?

They work fine in my RS1219+ and RS818+. Check the Synology compatibility list on their website for your specific model if you are concerned about support.

Does Seagate honor 5yr warranty on this bare drive?

Generally, yes, but you may have to run their diagnostic software to prove that there is a problem. I've never had a problem with Seagate warranties.
