Great Price for an 8 port gigabit ethernet switch.
This is way better than the older one I had, speed, quiet and runs really cool. Will buy again.
I work in information technology, and sometimes configure larger managed switches. When I read the specifications for this switch and then the price, I don't think I've ever impulse bought a network device faster, and I don't regret it. It does everything it says it does in the manual, is inexpensive, fanless, and has a great, sturdy iron case with notches for wall mounting using the included screws and wall anchors. Apart from the very solid build quality an iron case imparts, the extra weight is incredibly helpful to keep the device firmly planted where you put it when you have Ethernet cables hanging from all of the ports.
Easy to install
Works Perfect. Just plug stuff in and it works great. I like all TP-LINK stuff.
Simple to use and small so it's easy to hide.
UniFi compatible and suited to the kinds of awful environmental conditions the old Ubiquiti Tough Switch Pro was perfect for. Being managed by UniFi rather than UISP simplifies the network, so it's GREAT to have this niche filled. Surprisingly useful to have more ports, didn't know we needed them until we had the option.
Fast performance and PoE+/++ out of the box! Small footprint and overall a performance beast for my network
Works as advertised and had no issues with autonegotiating speeds on interfaces with Google Fiber's provided equipment (an issue I had read about in reviews for other boxes which I was concerned about). Get full speed.
The switch has a very heavy and quality feel to it. POE+ works great with my cameras, and wireless access points.
* Nice compact form factor * Included power adapter option is nice * Even nicer is being able to power it off PoE - one less wire/plug socket to deal with * Integrates well with the UniFi Network app, showing what devices are connected to it
Small, well-designed switch that can either be hung on the wall--which is actually quite handy--or, with the addition of supplied rubber feet, set on a desktop or shelf. The unit is small for an 8-port switch, barely larger than a 5-port switch (of another brand). The switch supports gigabit Ethernet as well as legacy 10/100 speeds, with auto-sensing. No special crossover NIC cable is necessary to connect this switch to other networking components. The external power supply is shaped to help avoid blocking other outlets on your power strip. The switch powers up in less than a second and runs cool and is silent. You can use it either as a "plug and play" (unmanaged) switch out of the box, or you can configure the switch via the supplied utility. From the utility, VLAN and QoS settings can be configured, as well as static IP or DHCP, and the admin account password. I feel that this switch represents a lot of value at its price point, and I would recommend it without hesitation for either home or small business use.
-Whisper quite -Many Features -Web GUI or phone app to manage it -You have to know what your doing or at least read the manual.
fast, good price, and netgears prosafe warranty is excellent. I have 3 or 4 off these here for media/entertainment center areas that are fed from my GS116 and GS724t switches and have had no issues at all.
This is a very hefty feeling switch for its size and well...it's a switch. Not sure what I could really do to test the throughput if it's worse than gigabit, but I trust that it performs at what it's rated to be. Fits nicely on my desk with my desktop and Raspberry Pi server!
