In my 25+ years of computer using & building, I have always used and depended on the Seagate brand and have trusted it with no worries. These HDDs have lasted for years of continued use for my home PC rigs and rigs that I have built for others. Their HDDs are always easy to install (under Windows) and I have never had a drive develop any bad sectors after installing. Their transfer speeds are always as described and data is always complete, even years after storage.

***Update*** It has now been more than a year with no issues at all. 5 of these make up the array for all my home entertainment, DVR, movie database, music database, everything. Has run 24/7 for over a year, no complaints. I'm here now shopping for a 6th as I am running out of space again. 12TB! 2 years data recovery (I bought mine when that was 3) and 5 years replacement warranty. Designed to run 24/7. I originally purchased 4 of these at 12TB and one of them was DOA. It was replaced quickly and that replacement works fine. I also purchased 2 at 2TB to use for a mirrored RAID in my PC. I've had all of them running for 4 months 24/7 with absolutely no hiccups of any kind. I am using the 12TB drives in a SNR1 array (Synology RAID 5) with a hot spare using BTRFS formating in my Synology DS1817+. The array is used as a NAS for my Plex server which is processed by my Ryzen 7 rig. My Plex server manages my complete media archive on the NAS as well as a DVR for my SiliconDust HDHomeRun tuner, it performs flawlessly. I can watch movies on 6 devices (1 TV via a Roku stick, 1 iPad, 1 Galaxy Note, and 3 cell phones) simultaneously, with 3 of them watching the same movie, at different places in the movie, with full pause/rewind/play functionality. My Ryzen 7 server cannot handle anything more than 6 streams, so there's no telling what the drives could do...but they can do anything I've tried to get out of them. I am now buying my 5th because I have filled up my array and need to expand the volume. Yes, I can EXPAND my existing volume thanks to SNR1 vs RAID 5

The Seagate Skyhawk 6TB Is meant for DVR Applications, Where the drive will be writing data constantly. It seems to be a well made drive, It has some weight to it, It weighs in at 24.9oz, It has a 256MB Cache, Which is important for those situations where you need to copy data off of your DVR at the same time it has to continue recording. I first installed this Drive in my desktop pc so i could perform benchmarks on it. And it performed well. Maximum HD Tune Read speed of 208MB/s & Average 168MB/s Maximum HD Tune Write speed of 207MB/s & Average 152MB/s Random Read Access Time 18.6ms & Random Write Access Time 6.65ms

Bought 14 of these to replace 12 [1TB] WD Green Hard Drives. These are rock solid hard drives!!! I have all 14 of them in a RAID 6 and I am getting no errors or issues with these hard drives. I have transfered 10TB to them with out issue.

Shout out to the Newegg shipping department, who packed these bare drives with extreme care. They were on par with Seagate's retail packaging. No job well done should ever be thankless.
