- Designed for NVR and continuous writing, but seems to hold up just fine in normal desktop workloads and in a Synology NAS. - Pairing this with a standard 4channel 1080p NVR from MP, drive had no problems recording and working in the NVR. Only have 1 camera recording 24/7, so I am able to get quite a few weeks of footage on this HDD. - Seagate claims a 180TB/year workload rating, I am not sure if this applies to the 2TB version however. - 3 year limited warranty. - Claims 1 million hours of MTBF - Fairly quiet during operation, far quieter than some of my other NAS drives. - The claim to Tarnish-resistant components is a nice plus. Depending on your environment, an environment where you can't control the humidity and elements can really mess with your gear.

-6TB, pretty good price/GB.

This external HD was a breeze to set up and use on my PS4. It really helps when many of these games require large storage capacity. Works like a charm!

Drive is a better price than most consumer 6TB drive and has much better specifications. This drives is rated for 600k load/unload cycles, most other drives, even some with 5 year warranties are rated for 300k. This drive has a read error rate that is 100x better than most consumer class drives. 1 sectore per 10E15 vs 10E14 for consumer class drives like the Barracuda or WD Blue. Mean Time Before Failure of 2 million hours. Rated for a workload of 550TB per year. Annualized Failure Rate of 0.44%. Advanced Write Caching via internal NOR flash. 5 year warranty. Specifications allow for 24x7 operation of the drive. Some other drives including Seagate Barracuda are only specced for 40 hours power on time a week! 8,760 hours a year versus 2,400. This drive uses Perpendicular Magnetic Recording and not the horrible Shingled Magnetic Recording that Seagate's consumer class drives use. SMR has such a bad reputation Seagate has changed the name to TGMR, but make no mistake TGMR means SMR.

These WD HDD's are for my security system servers and they usually last five to eight years. I prefer to buy from Newegg because I still remember they were the first company to really step up the game, and send my stuff the very next day as promised. Way before am zon, who is just out to put the other guy out of business. Newegg never has sent me junk parts, and has always been my PC parts shipper choice.

Fast, quiet, and cool

I've been pleased with this company's performance and communication on several occasions.

Fast enough Big enough

Handles multiple streams of video with ease. I have 4 cameras streaming to it constantly. When I went back to view recorded video, it played without any hesitation. There was no stuttering or skipping frames. A surveillance drive is designed to record video 24/7. Most of that video is never played back. When you do need to go view recorded video, you want to know it will be there. This drive delivers that feature. The drive remained cool while it was recording. Temperatures were at the low end of the operating range. The drive is also quiet when compared other drives.
