I have the older APC SMC1500 and it has improvements. I like that this has more time when power is shut off. The APC SMT1500 C can handle heavier loads and the menu status screen is better even though it still has the same size screen.
I forget that it is working in the background. No problems.
- Thin profile and modern design - Full featured, including USB charging ports - Front access battery compartment for easy access - Right angle plug to fit flush against the wall - LCD screen, really nice functionality - Alarm mute button right on the front - Cooling fan
Works great! Plug and play with windows XP is great. Can check on power consumption and battery life all from the desktop. For the prices its the best option on here in my opinion!
Very easy to setup either use the QR code on the top and go to smartconnect.apc.com and register there, the only complaint I have is the Product Key's last letter was cut off I had to guess it a few times in order to get it right. There are some advantages to having a cloud controlled UPS, it is much easier to setup alerting, actually it is all automatic, no need to specify a mail server, you are auto enrolled in the minimum level of alerts, which are critical and lifecycle events. 100% compatible with the PowerChute software. As with all other APC products, it comes with a "receipt" showing everything was testing and works before leaving the factory. Has a SmartSlot so you can connect either a SmartSlot card with networking for a web server or networking and environmental probes (these are not cheap), and depending on your use case may not be needed.
I like the fact that I can plug my high end computer into the APC SMC1500C along with my monitor, printer and other components into it and still not having to max out the total power consumption. I like the way the screen is so I can read what I need to see the UPS is working properly.
-Way smaller than I expected -Very quiet -Screen is bright and I like the different information you can display like run-time and watt usage -Fit and finish are great I actually prefer this design to the newer editions from APC -1103 Joule surge rating is a great bonus -Mine was made/tested 3/25/18 so its a new unit, which is great because I know I got a fresh battery. (not something that is really guaranteed when you buy a product that has been out for awhile)
This unit is built like a tank, which is good because it needs to be sturdy to support the heavy battery inside. Detachable control panel is nice for testing, especially since nobody's going to put this beast of a unit on a table. Link software works well, but does not always send me an email like it's supposed to. Sine wave output works correctly with ThermalTake Toughpower Grand PSUs (which means that newer PSU won't kill power during a transfer from AC to battery).
The SMC1000C model (600w) may be sufficient for most gaming PC's. Mine is overclocked and uses more power than most so I opted for the SMC1500C (900w) model.
Purchased 11 2018 and still going strong. No issues since delivery. I've had multiple power outages and it's saved my system. It helped since I was home and knew about the problem. - On side note to others: batteries need to be manually cycle to keep good health because they are always setting at 100%. - Like that it has battery test function.
This APC UPC is BEAST it has provided protection multiple times with in 2 months. it measures your watts and voltages and regulates them plus it has eco friendly type things so it can save you money on your electricity.
When I saw the earlier review where, among all the other good things the reviewer had to say about this product, he registered a complaint that the accompanying software would shut the computer down during an outage without saving files, I said hmm? I've had a lower rated Cyberpower unit for several years running its Powerpanel software, and during outages it has always saved files and put the PC in hibernation. Picked up this unit for a second computer, and it operates the same way, e.g., gracefully shuts down with no loss of data for unsaved files. Perhaps the confusion comes from the software config screen, which calls it a "shut down" when it is actually putting PC into hibernation mode. (It's just a simple DOS cmd, "shutdown /h", after all)
Nicely-sized, great appearance, quiet and functionally effective. Great for most non-gamer desktops. Great software, easy to install and set up. Informative power panel.
Mounts easily in short-depth racks, making it fit in nicely with network switches or audio gear. Cheap.
700 VA unit was easy enough to set up, Display of activities is helpful and replacement batteries are available on the net for cheap .
Nice LCD screen displays the internal information Easy to use buttons The ability to turn the power loss alarm off during extended power outages Sturdy enclosure Software to monitor the UPS's internal information and change control settings No noise when using line power
- LCD informational screen - USB charging port - Nice, low profile design
-Surge protected outlets. -ECO mode
